Shayla McCormally

I was faced with a divorce. I had no clue what to do. Ms. McCormally took her time and explained the process and potential outcomes. There were occasions where Ms. McCormally offered consolation and encouragement to "hang in there!". I was so relieved to have McCormally & Cosgrove representing me... and my interests. Shayla went above and beyond starting at the initial free consultation! I did not at all feel rushed and felt that she was willing to take all the time necessary to listen to me to fully understand my story. It was so comforting to know she was willing to listen in order to help me in the best way sh...e could! Shayla did an amazing job representing us and getting things done. Her staff was also very friendly and willing to help!

Shayla took my money and kept money she didn't deserve to keep. She agreed to represent me in a long term alimony issue. She took the money in mid-January 2018. I spent one whole Sunday afternoon, 1/14/18 to provide information to Shayla so she could write an effective response letter to my ex-wife'...s attorney. Little did I know at the time, Shayla had no intention of representing me. After 3 weeks of no further communication I sent Shayla a one line email in early February asking for an update. No reply. When I called her office in late February she informed she never wrote a rebuttal letter. In addition, she notified me would no longer represent me since I had been rude to her staff. I asked her staff if Shayla was still alive. That's not being rude, that's gathering information. When we spoke on the phone she explained she and her kids had been very sick. She agreed to return only the payment to write the letter she never wrote. Refused to return payment for what she claims was 'research time', I eventually received a check. However it wasn't signed. It took several more weeks to get a check that was signed. Shayla didn't sign the check, someone else in the firm did. Makes no sense. She refused to return payment to my credit card as that is how I paid what she claimed was a retainer. We had no retainer contract. Her staff insisted I prepay rather than be billed for the alimony issue. Shayla had previously handled updating my will and a name change filing for my 2nd wife. I had a well established history of full and timely payment. Do not waste your time and energy with this woman. She's unprofessional and lazy. Not a good combination. Find someone else.
