Katie Marie Naset

My wife and I hired Katie Naset to represent us in our Child Custody Modification. My original decree was no longer working for our child and we had an uphill battle to fight. I hired Katie to represent me at a child support hearing since I live 1000 miles away. Katie was exceptionally knowledgeable, reassuring, professional, and has terrific follow through. I've spoken to many attorneys in the 8 years since I've been divorced, but none have treated me with the compassion ...and empathy Katie has for her clients. Katie did an amazing job handling my divorce. She presented all options clearly to me. Originally my ex and I had decided for joint custody, but she soon changed her mind after five months of this. My ex-wife wanted to change the custody from 50/50 to just allowing me visitation every other weeken...d, without caring how much this would devastate our children. My ex also started to make more demands for money and property, including our house and keeping my name on the mortgage for another 12 years. It was an incredibly stressful situation, as every day it was something new. As my ex-wife’s demands became more and more taxing, Katie handled everything in stride and was able to rebut everything. We had to have temporary hearing to address the custody changes that my ex was demanding. Katie remained perfectly calm as my world was falling apart. And while there is no winning in divorce, especially with children involved, Katie was able to show how detrimental my ex-wife’s demands would be my children. Katie was further able to demonstrate that my ex was simply using the children as leverage as my ex was in the process of being taken to small claims court over unpaid bills and was also on the verge of having her driver’s license suspended over another issue. After the hearing, Katie was able to get my divorce finalized relatively quickly without having to go to trial, plus keeping the original custody agreement. I honestly do not think that any lawyer could have done a better job than Katie did for my kids and me.

I hired Katie originally for what I thought would be a simple joint custody agreement. When my child's mother refused to agree, we had to push further. She started to keep my daughter from me, have her parents interfere with my time with her, and even demanded that she be allowed to "decide when and ...if" I am allowed to see my daughter at mediation. Throughout Mediation, Pretrial, and court itself, Katie was there for me every step of the way. She worked tirelessly to win custody rights for me. Any time the respondent caused an issue (IE: keeping the child when we had agreed I would have her, her parents removing child from daycare without my permission, etc) Katie was just one call away. If she was busy at the time, she always called me back the same day. Her assistant Shelby was also a great help throughout the entire process. When the case went in front of the judge, Katie destroyed the respondents case. She made the respondents lawyer look like a fool. Their case was full of holes, and Katie made sure to highlight every single one to the judge. The respondent made the mistake of handing over her entire facebook account in the Interrogatories, and Katie went through it with a fine tooth comb. She found messages to a friend of the respondents confiding in her that her boyfriend (a violent felon) was emotionally abusive to my daughter. It took a great deal of effort on Katie's part to find this information, and it proved invaluable at trial. Thanks to her hard work, I was awarded primary physical custody of my daughter. I must admit, when I first talked to the people at hope law-firm, I was a bit worried about the price. They are a little more expensive than some of the other Lawyers I had consulted. However, you get what you pay for. It was worth every penny to have my daughter safe, and in my custody. I would highly recommend Katie Naset to anyone in a similar situation. She is extremely knowledgeable, and takes a personal interest in her cases. I am forever grateful for her hard work and determination in bringing my daughter home to me.
