Katie Marie Naset

I used the family lawyer, Katie Naset and her assistant Shelby Burns, from Hope Law Firm out of the West, Des Moines location. They specialize in Family cases including, difficult custody battles. Overall I was very pleased with my case. Let’s be honest divorces and custody battles aren’t exactly so...mething everyone has a good attitude about, especially when you think you are dealing with uncooperative parties. The first time I met with Katie, she was very upfront and honest about my situation which is exactly what anybody should be looking for from a lawyer. She laid out a realistic plan and goal and told me what to expect. She gave me the pointers and advice I needed to get her the information and documentation needed to help her as I pleaded my case. Lawyers cannot be expected to make a case out of nothing and Katie was very upfront about what was worth documenting and important. Katie was always two steps ahead of our other opponent, knowing exactly what we needed to do. She was always on time to every meeting, court held event, mediation, phone meetings, you name it. I cannot say the same about our opponent, but not once did she let it interfere with the way she proceeded with my case, full well knowing we may be sitting, waiting on someone else. She was the utmost professional, and very classy which is another important factor I thought, the way she carried herself in and out of the courtroom. I was intimidated by our opponent at first, with the things she would say, the grape vine of info everyone gets when going through a divorce/custody battle, the snide remarks I would hear from my ex-husband, his friends and family. Katie will crush anybody’s poker face, and arrogant attitude, she will shut it down and it is the most amazing feeling, imagine you are sitting in the chair next to someone who is doing what they are doing just for bad intentions, or to hurt you, imagine you get to look over and think “well don’t you feel stupid now.” If you want that feeling, which everyone does she is the representation you will need. I will however say, sometimes I would question her tactics and the timing but, in the end, she knew exactly what she was doing. She explained everything. She answered every single one of my insecurities about this case, with realistic ideas of the outcome, never steered me in the wrong direction. She never got irritated by the million times I would call or email with negativity or have a bad attitude. Sometimes I felt like I was letting loose on Katie and Shelby and they always came back with a positive attitude; they never got aggravated or became short. Not once did it ever take more than 12 hours to respond, if Katie was tied up in a case Shelby was right there. They are literally the perfect team for a case to work in your favor. I felt as this team truly cared about my son’s future and what was in the best interest of my family. I Would highly recommend using them. I will however be using them again if needed. I have referred people asking for a good lawyer as I have nothing but good things to say about Katie & Shelby at Hope.
