Great communication and knowledge. Very effective.

I needed help with finalizing my DUI case in Grand Rapids, MI and Ed was fantastic throughout the entire process. This was a challenging scenario as my DUI was back in 2003 and I had moved to another state before my sentencing. This meant that there was a bench warrant for me and that I have been un...able to get a valid driver's license for over 16 years. Ed walked me through the process and was able to successfully petition the court to pass sentence without me having to travel to Michigan. Ed was very thorough and his summation to the court requesting a remote sentencing to just court costs and a fine was accepted. There was constant communication from Ed and even though I was in another state, I always knew what was going on with my case. I would HIGHLY recommend Ed for his knowledge, communication and skills with handling DUI cases extremely effectively.

Thank you Liliana! It was a pleasure working with you and your husband. I hope for the best as you both move forward. :)

Ed was extremely courteous and knowledgeable about anything DUI related.

Edward was very gracious with his time. He helped me relax, and make choices that greatly benefited my mother's owi case. If you're looking for an honest attorney that will greatly reduce your chances of an owi conviction call Ed. Not only will he personally pick up the phone each time he may even sp...end hours filling you full of legal info, like he did me. I feel like I just took a DUI 101 course! He's that good. Look him up, you will be back on the road sooner than you can say "no jail time!"

Ed Sternisha - OWI + PBT refusal --> OWVI

Attorney Sternisha is a spectacular lawyer! As a DUI attorney, I believe there is no better individual to represent one who has made a mistake. Ed knows the ins and outs of our rights to due process, especially when taking on drunk driving cases because he is a former police officer himself. While go...ing over the dashcam footage with him, he was able to pick out minute details, such as the arresting officer's incorrect use of what "maximum deviate" means when the HGN test was conducted to check for nystagmus. Also, Ed picked out minute visual details as well, such as when the officer read the walk in a straight line instructions to me--the officer told me to leave my hands at my side. I then asked him, showing my hands at my side, "like this?" and the officer responded, "just like that". Then when I began walking heel to toe in a straight line, the officer told me to put my hands by my side. However, when I asked the officer earlier if how I had my hands placed before if they were okay, he said "just like that". Ed was able to pinpoint the arresting officer's sloppy job. Overall Ed did a great job; I am glad I was able to work with him, and if it weren't for other things that have come up in my life since the start of the case, I was looking forward to fighting with Ed on this case, until the end. While I did learn relatively quickly that Ed was very knowledgeable as a lawyer and DUI attorney, what took greater precedent in my mind was the way Ed carries and has carried himself throughout his life. Having an attorney that is willing to fight until the end, with an endless determination is the most important attribute of an attorney in most people's minds, but ultimately, an attorney that is willing to open up about his life experiences and is able to relate to his/her clients while working on their case is what I have found to be most important. Ed is the perfect-most example of the saying, "Do NOT judge a book by its cover" because his work ethic truly shows where he is today. Ed could've quit along time ago, and wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for his willingness to excel and learn every detail in the documents he is given or documents he finds to be useful. With Ed I learned much more about life than just about how DUI cases work--"what matters in life is not what happens to us, but how we react to and handle what life throws at us!" Thank you, Ed!

Thank you so much for the very nice review. It was my pleasure serving you. In this business, clients get to pick their attorney, we don't get to pick our clients. I am glad you decided to pick me as your attorney because I really enjoyed getting to know you. I have no doubt you will go far. Your own commitment to this case and to your success not only impressed me, but the judge saw it as well. You are a great example of "doing" something about "what happens to you in life." I wish you the best of success in the future. - Ed

MUI Defence

From our first meeting, Edward Sternisha actively sought to explain every aspect of of my case to me, making sure I understood what was happening and what my options were. Our first meeting he spent a couple hours of his own time, unpaid, to go over the difference between the potential charges I was ...or could be presented with. He often asked is I had any questions pertaining my case and made me feel comfortable enough to express my concerns directly with him. Outside the first meeting, Edward Sternisha was extremely active in communication. He would update Clio regularly with all copies of all of the document he received from the court or was sending to the court. (Clio, an online platform designed for lawyer to client communications) He also was quick to respond to a question via text, often after office hours. For hearings and trials, we met before hand to discuss the case and review my options. After the meetings with the prosecutor we talked about their meeting any new options. Upon discussion I felt that he fought for my case passionately and thoroughly. He successfully defended my case and my case ultimately was dismissed. His hard and diligent work was noticed and highly appreciated. I would 100% recommend Edward Sternisha to a friend or anyone who is a similar situation that I was in.

Levi, It was my pleasure working with you. Even though I can claim it as a "win," you are the one who ultimately won. You had a clean record going into this and you have a clean record still. I am glad I had the opportunity to help you and have no doubt you will do well at whatever you do. - Ed

"I do not give peer endorsements on AVVO often (even when I am asked). And I have never met or talked with Edward Sternisha. I have been reading these responses for months. They consistently reflect a detailed first-class legal mind, as well as enthusiasm and energy, caring and a willingness to help people. Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
