Ed Sternisha is an exceptional attorney. To say he exceeded my expectations in the work he did on my case is an understatement. I was arrested for 1st offense OWI and refusing the breathalyzer. Ed rigorously investigated every aspect of my arrest. He even went so far as to explore the employment his...tory of my arresting officer which revealed information that was later helpful when he negotiated with the prosecutor to get my case dismissed and converted to a minor civil traffic ticket. In addition to Ed's outstanding legal prowess, he's also just a really kind and compassionate man. His fees are remarkably reasonable. He is easy to contact. In fact, Ed actually answers his own phone and I think he picked up every time I called him. I usually don't write reviews but I was compelled to make an exception for Ed. Getting arrested for a crime is a stressful life crisis and Ed helped me and made me feel secure throughout the entire process.

I would strongly recommend hireing Ed if you are facing drunk driving charges. After I was charged with owi and refusing to take a breathalyzer I was told I wouldn't have a license and would probably be looking at jail time and probation. So a friend suggested hiring Ed. So I did, and that was the th...e best decision I ever made. Instantly Ed began filing paperwork with the security of state to keep my license. He won the securatary of state hearing, then he got my criminal charge reduced to careless driving! I never even had to go to trial! When I went to pay my small fine at the courthouse the clerk couldn't believe it! She told me "you must have a good attorney! I mean really good!" I think that says it all.

I was going through a tough time of my life a couple years ago when I was arrested because of a warrant for "Reckless Driving", I had no idea of the warrant, but I was in a traffic accident a week or so prior. I didn't have funds for a Lawyer so the court appointed me Edward Sternisha, and let me tel...l you, this guy is GREAT. I have a bit of a troubled past, and I have dealt with a fair share of Court Appointed Attorneys. NONE OF THEM fought for me as hard as Ed did, NONE OF THEM called me on the phone and actually had a conversation with me outside of the courtroom, like Ed did and NONE OF THEM ever got my charges reduced for a bullshit "crime". I would recommend Ed to all of my friends and family based on his merit as a Court Appointed Attorney, and I would call him in an instant if I was ever to be charged with a traffic related incident again.

My charge was a 'disobeying a police officer directing traffic' in Grand Rapids, MI -- which is considered a misdemeanor. I failed to properly stop at a confusing intersection with a lot of pedestrians. It was essentially a minor traffic violation that was, unfortunately, written up as something fa...r more serious at the discretion of the police officer. The ticket required me to appear before a judge and could have resulted in possible jail time. I found Ed Sternisha after my girlfriend posted to an 'ask a lawyer for advice website' (the site was AVVO). Ed responded very helpfully and we thereupon set up a free face-to-face meeting with him. At our meeting Ed was exceptionally forthcoming and gave us all kinds of advice and helpful hints. He was highly approachable, likable, and down-to-earth. He clearly has a lot of experience as a defense attorney but also has inside knowledge, being a former police officer, and I believe a one-time prosector as well. He's a good guy and easy to trust. At our meeting Ed also agreed to take the case if we would like to hire him and to represent me in court should it come to that, for a set fee which I found reasonable -- and so I decided to hire him. Basically at that point Ed took over and I had very little left to do. He filed all the paperwork and took care of the 'pre-trial hearing' stuff. I never had to appear at any courthouse. He ended up meeting with the prosecuting attorney and negotiating a deal. In the end the charge was reduced to a minor civil infraction and I had to simply go pay for a regular traffic violation ticket. It was, I felt, the best possible outcome based on the circumstances. Throughout the process after I hired Ed he kept in regular contact. He called me a couple times to keep me up to date and whenever I had a question I felt comfortable calling him with it. Even as I was going to pay my ticket I called him just to make sure I was doing everything correctly and his advice was reassuring.
