I would also be allowed to have a license to drive back and forth to work and appointments. The refusal of the breathalyzer was not recognized by the Secretary of State because the officer did not complete the paperwork. While we awaited the court date for me to enter my plea, Ed got news that Sobriety Court was full, and the waiting list was too long to add anyone additional. Just like that the offer was off the table and we were right back at the beginning. This did not deter Ed. He continued to challenge the reversal of the agreement, as it was no fault of ours that Sobriety Court was full, had a wait list and was not available to me. With Ed’s determination he worked out an amazing deal that I will be forever grateful. I received a sentence of 90 days on a Scram Monitor with required counseling and two years’ probation which will be reduced to a one-year probation period with the completion of my probation requirements. Absolutely unexpected and the best outcome for the situation I was in. Ed went above and beyond. Ed did a great job handling my OWI case. He was incredibly knowledgeable in the subject area and very open and helpful to someone that was going through the legal system for the first time. Ed gave me his cell phone number immediately and was willing to work around my work schedule which is 3 hours s...eparated. No lawyer is a "Get Out of Jail Free" card (metaphorically, I mean: I was fortunate to not actually get jail time) because they're confined to the facts of the case, but given the egregious nature of my inexcusable alcohol-related vehicle violation, I really couldn't have asked for a better result.
