Amazing Attorney

Ed Sternisha is the best Attorney you will find. Ed informs you at the beginning he is not able to provide promises although he will work diligently to provide the best outcome for your situation. Ed is dedicated to your case and is very detail oriented. He reviews every aspect of all reports and v...ideos and shares the information with you to keep you informed of everything he is doing. He gathers all the information required to fight your case aggressively. I was facing a 3rd OWI felony conviction with a refusal of the breathalyzer and driving on a suspended. I knew I had put myself in a difficult situation with the possibility of losing my job that I’ve had for over 20 years, my home I had just recently purchased and most of all my freedom. I knew I would need representation from someone that would work hard to help me. A lot of research was done online to try to find the best fit to help my case. Coming across Ed’s website was a blessing. He was everything we believed I needed. We took the time to review everything on his website. This included watching and reading through the media interviews and client reviews. The first contact with Ed was when my girlfriend called his office and spoke with him. Ed answered the phone himself and took 30 minutes to explain to her what I would be facing, similar cases to mine that he has represented and how he may be able to help me. Her and I discussed the information Ed provided and made the decision to hire him. During our first appointment with Ed, we could see the passion he has for his profession. He took the time to explain to me in detail the possibilities of everything I was facing. He provided examples of cases he has taken on and won, cases where he was able to get the charges reduced and others that got thrown out. Once Ed worked through all the evidence he received, he was able to work out an agreement that I would plead guilty to a 2nd offence OWI misdemeanor and the charge of driving on a suspended license would be dropped. This would be attained with the completion of 18 months on Sobriety Court. I knew going into Sobrity Court, I would be going to weekly court appearances, a daily curfew, random at home checks and much more. I would also be required to have an interlock system installed on my vehicle so that I could drive back and forth to work. With all these requirements I was still overjoyed that he made this opportunity happen for me. He got the felony reduced to a misdemeanor, and I would be able to keep my job, my home, and my freedom. I would also be allowed to have a license to drive back and forth to work and appointments. The refusal of the breathalyzer was not recognized by the Secretary of State because the officer did not complete the paperwork. While we awaited the court date for me to enter my plea, Ed got news that Sobriety Court was full, and the waiting list was too long to add anyone additional. Just like that the offer was off the table and we were right back at the beginning. This did not deter Ed. He continued to challenge the reversal of the agreement, as it was no fault of ours that Sobriety Court was full, had a wait list and was not available to me. With Ed’s determination he worked out an amazing deal that I will be forever grateful. I received a sentence of 90 days on a Scram Monitor with required counseling and two years’ probation which will be reduced to a one-year probation period with the completion of my probation requirements. Absolutely unexpected and the best outcome for the situation I was in. Ed went above and beyond. If you are doing research to find the one attorney that will do everything in their power to provide you with the best representation, stop here. You found the attorney you are looking for. “Call Ed Instead!” is the best thing you can do.

Amazing lawyer

Ed Sternisha is an amazing lawyer and genuinely an overall great person. Any question or concern I had, he addressed right away. He eased all of my worries and also advised me appropriately. He cannot guarantee an outcome to any case, there are so many variables, however I personally feel that he tri...ed his very hardest for me as a client. My case in particular didn't get dismissed, it should have, but the visiting judge sided with the tribal officer and prosecutor. Even with that, he tried his very hardest for me. Without him, I would have had a suspended license for a year on top of charges for an owi. With him, we won the hearing with secretary of state and I was able to get a lesser sentence with the court; meaning no license suspension for a year. I 100% recommend Ed.

Very Professional and Helpful

Ed did a great job handling my OWI case. He was incredibly knowledgeable in the subject area and very open and helpful to someone that was going through the legal system for the first time. Ed gave me his cell phone number immediately and was willing to work around my work schedule which is 3 hours s...eparated. This means I didn't need to worry while I was at work that I needed to call Ed by 2pm my time to make sure I got him before he was out of the office. He also was very prompt in responding to text messages and emails. Again, Ed was both very professional and prompt while also being very warm and kind. I could't recommend Ed enough if you get into any situation around OWI.

Highly recommend; goes above and beyond

No lawyer is a "Get Out of Jail Free" card (metaphorically, I mean: I was fortunate to not actually get jail time) because they're confined to the facts of the case, but given the egregious nature of my inexcusable alcohol-related vehicle violation, I really couldn't have asked for a better result. T...he immediate future is going to be difficult due to my very poor decision to drive that night, but I feel like the tireless effort Ed put in on my behalf, I'm going to be able to get back to a normal life much sooner than I would have otherwise. Ed really knows the laws extremely well, and showed genuine care for me at a time where I was scared and feeling really badly about myself. He really stuck his neck out for me and couldn't have been any more helpful when I had to stand in front of a judge. It also helped me feel better than I never had to jump through hoops to get in touch with him; which was refreshing change after the virtually-absent lawyer I hire I mistakenly hired for my divorce a few years ago. I hope I never have to hire him again because that would mean I made another indefensible mistake, but I believe his care and confidence in me as a person will be a big reason I will be especially motivated to not get in that position again. I would definitely recommend him to anyone unfortunate enough to have put themselves in the situation I did.

"I do not give peer endorsements on AVVO often (even when I am asked). And I have never met or talked with Edward Sternisha. The reason I felt compelled this morning to write this endorsement is that I have been repeatedly impressed with the thought, intellect, and creativity that Mr. Sternisha puts into his answers on a variety of subjects. I have been reading these responses for months. They consistently reflect a detailed first-class legal mind, as well as enthusiasm and energy, caring and a willingness to help people. I have put Mr. Sternisha’s name in my drawer, and I look forward to the opportunity to refer to him."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
