About Ronald

Learn Ronald’s areas of practice.

Very few attorneys have achieved trial acquittals on behalf of healthcare clients charged with healthcare fraud and drug trafficking, Ron Chapman II is one of them. Ron’s trial experience, healthcare experience, and strategic approach to litigation make him a highly sought-after healthcare defense attorney by healthcare entities and practitioners nationally who are facing suspicion or charges of health care fraud or unlawful prescribing. A former prosecutor and recipient of an L.L.M. in healthcare, Ron’s specialization levels the playing field for clients facing government scrutiny in the healthcare arena.

Notably, Ron achieved a trial acquittal of a prominent Johns Hopkins and Mayo Clinic physician charged with running several “pill mills” after a month-long trial. Later, Ron secured a civil victory ensuring the return of over $6 million of assets seized by the government. Ron was also the lead trial lawyer in the acquittal of a prominent West Virginia physician charged with health care fraud and drug trafficking. Ron’s tenacity in and out of the court room, litigation experience, and healthcare experience have allowed a significant number of health care providers overcome government scrutiny.

Ron is also a highly sought-after author and speaker in the area of health care fraud, opioid prescribing, and Government investigations. Ron has delivered lectures across the country including Harvard, Washington D.C., various state medical societies, and criminal defense organizations. He has also published peer reviewed articles on the topic of health care fraud and physician drug trafficking defense.

As a former prosecutor and veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Ron is comfortable dealing with the Department of Justice and other federal agencies including the DEA, FBI, HHS, and FDA.

Ron is a graduate of Loyola School of Law where he received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a concentration in health care compliance. He has been named as a 2015-2019 Super Lawyers Rising Star for his contributions to criminal law and health care law and was named as a Michigan Lawyers Weekly Top Lawyer. Ron was also a co-chair of the Michigan Bar Health Care Law Sections’ Substantive Law Committee.

Ron’s representative clients include a multi-state behavioral health corporation, national pharmacy chain, national hospice provider, former board of pharmacy member, a regional interventional pain practice, and a significant number of physicians and health care practices, pharmacies and clinics across the United States who have faced Government investigations or criminal charges.

Ron was an officer in the United States Marine Corps and was previously deployed to combat in Afghanistan. He achieved the rank of Captain and earned the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal among other awards.

Best There Is.
I hired Ron to help with a number of legal matters from general civil litigation to assessment of potential criminal liability. I've worked with a number of attorneys in a variety of different practice areas with everything from independent attorneys to some of the largest firms in the country and Ron has proven to be the most knowledgeable and strategic attorney that I've come across. From the initial meeting to conclusion it's clear that Ron knows what he is doing and has the clients best interest in mind - not the billable. Very strategic in his planning and execution. Would recommend Ron, without hesitation, to anybody that I know.

Highly recommended!!!
I hired Ron Chapman II for a health professional license issue. I came to Ron with no hope for the future and left feeling that I had a chance and was in good hands. He is wonderful, and extremely passionate about his work. He takes the time to explain all scenarios, helps you feel comfortable, and no matter what the circumstances he will provide solutions. I never felt he was only out to make money or didn't care, he is genuine and will fight hard to obtain the best results. With an extremely stressful situation he has been outstanding and patient with answering questions, returning calls, emails and always going above and beyond. His office staff are extremely helpful and friendly as well. If you are looking to hire an attorney look no further, he is by far the best there is. I am very happy with my results and will definitely be a lifelong client.

Healthcare Licensure
Chapman Law Group has represented me twice against the State of Michigan Attorney General's office in regards to healthcare professionals licensure issues, both cases resulted in a 100% win on my behalf. They are extremely well versed on issues related to healthcare professionals and I highly recommend their firm.

The Best of the Best!!! Highly Recommend!!!!!
I had talked to various seasoned health care lawyers in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area prior to setting up a meeting with Ron Chapman II back in August of 2014. Having a history of 3 DUI convictions that had to be disclosed on my licensure application I was so stressed out and worried that I would be denied licensure and/or forced into HPRP...the living nightmare for any health care professional. Every lawyer I spoke with prior to Ron told me to call up HPRP and join that program. I knew better than to do that. After reviewing an article written by Ron Chapman II called "HPRP Is Not For Everyone" ( I called him up and we met for a consultation.... I cannot say enough about Ron Chapman II. He is a truly authentic person and an amazing lawyer. He is passionate about his work and is totally driven to achieve the best outcomes for his clients. He is detailed oriented and takes his time getting all the facts together regarding your situation and how best to tackle it. He is upfront and honest about all the potential scenarios that may happen, yet not afraid to fight hard for his client's best interests. Ron Chapman II packaged my information together in such a manner that no questions were even asked. I did not get referred to HPRP. I did not have to attend an administrative hearing. I did not get a denial letter. The process went as smooth as possible with the best outcome possible. From the day we sent my application to them I was licensed in about 4 weeks time. Thank you Ron Chapman II, you truly saved my career. You have earned a lifelong client. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ron Chapman II to any health care professional that needs a lawyer. He is the best of the best!!!

I highly recommend him to all health professionals.
Thank you again for everything. I appreciate all that you have done for me regarding this whole process with my nursing license. I have said it before and I will say it again: I wish I would have contacted you right from the beginning and I always recommend to other Healthcare Professionals that they contact you immediately if they have any concerns with their license.

Poor Legal Services
I thought this was a good lawyer until they stole my retainer of over $3000 which is illegal. He has still never given it back. I was bounced down to lawyers and my case had NO NEGOTIATION, simply a paperwork firm handing me over. DO not believe these other reviews. They pass you down to students at the University they brag about, then to a lawyer who simply walked me in to the slaughter.
