James S. Lawrence

Mr. Lawrence was retained by my parents to appeal my first degree murder conviction. After, 3 previous attorneys were unsuccessful and inefficient in my appeals. I was at the end of my fight with only a last step to enter the federal courts only to be told by my attorney I'd exhausted all of remedies... and could no longer continue my fight. I FIRED them and my parents contacted James Sterling Lawrence who came in and immediately researched my files and gave me the straight honest answers whether they sounded good to me or not. We entered into the federal courts after finding I still had days to file habeas relief. Mr. Lawrence argued the issues found so many faults and argued issues stating case law that the prosecution was unprepared for. He won a new trial for me and was aggressive in that courtroom. Ultimately Mr. Lawrence was successful at gaining a plea deal after several attempts and a highly objecting prosecutor. I went to see the parole board 4 years later and was granted a parole. I went from serving 4 concurrent natural life sentences to recieving a sentence of 20 to 40.. I have no doubt in my mind without his experience his fortitude his resilience and his unparalleled knowledge of the law I would still be in prison today..

Darn, I just did the review and it disappeared; strange. Me and James used words that relied upon this sites communication abilities. It appears that distance is a key contributing factor and as James is in Michigan and I am in Oregon this factor cannot be overcome. As to the question of would... I hire James? Why yes I would as I found his answers or positions valid which is why I cannot hire a lawyer here in Oregon. I still think I can over come these obstacles which means I will have to do this myself.
