Larry Shulman - formerly the chair of the Criminal Defense, Forfeiture, and Licensing Practice at a top michigan criminal defense firm, name partner at Rubin & Shulman, PLLC and of counsel to one of the largest law firms in the United States - is excited to announce that he has established The Shulman Law Firm, PLC, in Birmingham, MI, where he continues to specialize in the defense of individuals and corporations in state and federal white-collar criminal and government enforcement matters. Mr Shulman is a renowned attorney in the Metro Detroit Area, with an international reputation. He has been recognized as one of the Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit by Dbusiness Magazine (2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 lists, white-collar criminal defense). In recent years, much of his practice has been devoted to the most complex and technical areas of criminal defense, including computer crimes, health care fraud, and cases involving extensive scientific, forensic, or electronically-stored evidence.
He re-entered private practice in 2001 after serving for more than seven years as a prosecutor in Detroit. Mr. Shulman was a member of the Felony Trials Division and the elite Special Crimes Section, which prosecuted high profile and highly complex criminal offenses - including cybercrime, major narcotics cases, gang-related activity, public corruption, economic crimes, and homicide cases. He won acclaim as a tough, thorough, yet fair-minded prosecutor. Based on his skills, he was regularly invited to teach trial advocacy to prosecutors throughout the state of Michigan.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Shulman has tried well over 200 jury trials and over 300 bench trials, argued before appellate courts, and negotiated thousands of cases - a level of experience that very few attorneys (or entire law firms, for that matter) in any jurisdiction can match.
Larry has guided clients through the complicated maze of state and federal criminal litigation and related matters such as licensing issues, forfeiture proceedings, administrative hearings, corporate internal investigations, and civil litigation. He has represented business leaders, corporations, political figures, athletes, celebrities, professionals and people from all walks of life through some of their most trying times.
Mr. Shulman is committed to going the distance for his clients. In the course of prior representations he has travelled to a prison in the Middle East to track down an essential witness, criss-crossed the United States to stave off imminent indictments, and stood at the middle of media, political and courtroom firestorms to make sure that his client's interests were firmly and effectively protected.
In recent years, he has also devoted a significant portion of his practice to complex civil litigation and negotiation on behalf of business clients. His extensive courtroom experience gives him an advantage over the typical "litigator" in planning strategy for cases, maximizing the imapct of pre-trial proceedings and discovery, and in presenting his clients' cases. His courtroom experience also allows him to thoroughly advise his clients as to their options at every step of the pre-litigation, litigation, and post-litigation phases.
Mr. Shulman is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Wayne State University Law School. He is admitted to practice before the State and Federal Courts in Michigan, the Federal Courts in Southern Indiana and Western New York, and has previously been granted permission to practice, by leave, in state courts in Florida, Minnesota and Arizona. He is rated "AV/ Preeminent" by Martindale - Hubbell -- recognition that he is ranked at the highest level of professional excellence by other lawyers and judges. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Litigation and Criminal Law Sections of the Michigan State Bar. He also serves as an appointed member of the Michigan Supreme Court Committee on Standard Criminal Jury Instructions - comprised of a select group of judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys, which is responsible for writing and adopting the instructions used throughout Michigan in every criminal jury trial - and is an elected member of the State Bar Representative Assembly, the Michigan Bar's top policy-making body.

This guy gets NO stars. He took $2000.00 for an expungement and never did anything. 3 months passed and he would not return phone calls. I requested my information and paperwork back and he will not return it. I have just reported him to attorney grievance board.

Mr. Shulman made time in his busy schedule to review a contract for me. He was very professional, courteous and discreet about the sensitive nature of the contract. His fee was very reasonable as well.
