Joshua S. Carter, Attorney at Law, is a small-sized law firm providing clients with the big punch of a large firm and is located in Dayton, Ohio. My firm provides professional legal representation in the following areas:
- Criminal Defense
- DUI/OVI, Hit/Skip, and other traffic violations
- Appeals
- Business Law, to include business formations and dissolutions
- Estate Planning. including wills, trusts, and estate tax
- Tax Law, to include filing personal and business taxes with the IRS and Ohio Department of Taxation
- Litigation
- Divorce
- Custody
My firm is built upon the pillars of Loyalty, Integrity, and Dedication.
LOYALTY: Because I have a smaller firm, I am able to remain committed to all my clients from the intitial consultation through resolution of the issue and beyond. I am fully invested in each one of my clients and fight as hard as possible for each client as I look at clients as individuals, rather than another file, a paycheck, or a case. Sadly, this is not true for some large law firms, who are simply interested in receiving the paycheck and turning as many clients as possible in order to make money, which means they may say they are fighting for you and your situation, but they are really fighting for your money. At Joshua S. Carter, I will remain loyal to you and treat you as a person, not another case.
INTEGRITY: My firm believes in doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching and I practice this everyday. In fact, any question you ask will receive an honest answer. Some firms will tell you false expectations and misleading information from the front in order to keep you with their firm. However, at my firm, I will tell you the truthful answer even if it causes you not to hire me, or go to another firm. For example, one time a client came in wanting full legal and residential custody of his son and wanted to hire me. However, this client was just released from prison and was just starting rehab. He informed me that another attorney would take the case for $1,500 dollars. However, I informed him of the truth: that he should wait a few years, stay out of trouble, partake in court ordered supervised visitation as required, and then seek custody. This is not the answer my client was hoping for, but it was the truth and our firm does not take clients just to take the pay check. We are honest from the beginning to the end.
DEDICATION: My firm will fight for each client the same as all other clients, and I pack the punch of a big firm despite our small size. What this means is that I fully investigate and research each case and ensure that all clients receive the justice they are seeking. Although I cannot guarantee successful results in every case (no lawyer can as it is unethical and impossible) I can guarantee that I will throw every resource possible toward your case as I am dedicated to fighting for you.

ABOUT ME:
I grew up in Jamestown, Ohio and attended Greeneview High School. At Greeneview, I played football, basketball, and baseball. I was also fortunate to play on the Greeneview basketball team that was State of Ohio Runner-Up in 2000.
Following high school, I attended the University of Dayton where I played football for a short time before leaving the team to work so that I could pay for school.
After U.D., I worked as an Operations Manager at Delphi and attended law school in the evenings in Columbus. At Capital Law School, I was treasurer of the Student Bar Association and was selected for the National Moot Court Team. I also clerked at the Federal Public Defender's Office and Marathon Oil Corporation and served as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Roberta Mitchell. Following graduation from law school, I passed the Ohio Bar Examination and began working for the Department of the Air Force. I started this firm in late 2009 and I am blessed that it continues to grow strong. I also am a Visiting Professor teaching law at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
I am married to a beautiful wife, Beth, who hails from Beavercreek, Ohio. We currently reside near Vandalia with our dog, Lola.
When I am not working, I enjoy working out, playing basketball, golf, snowboarding, and traveling.
