Jim Thorson obtained Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University in 1987 and entered the University of Dayton School of Law with an eye on becoming a tax attorney. In 1989 he was involved in a serious automobile accident due to the negligence of a distracted driver. The experience in dealing with he insurance adjuster on both the property damage and injury settlement was so frustrating that he sought out positions with personal injury law firms.
Upon obtaining a law degree he accepted a position with a large, volume based personal injury law firm in Dayton, Ohio. The challenge of handling a caseload five times the amount normally handled by attorneys with many more years of experience while still providing personal service, both seasoned his legal abilities and gave him a vision of a better way to practice.
In 1999 he left this high volume personal injury firm to start Thorson & Switala with Gil Switala. His goal was to create a firm where those seriously injured and families affected by wrongful death could obtain aggressive representation with a more personal touch. “Big Enough to Win, Small Enough to Care,” was born from this idea.
With a vast amount of knowledge and extensive experience in personal injury, Jim’s philosophy is that every victim is entitled to aggressive representation. Few attorneys in the greater Miami Valley have handled more personal injury claims than Jim. He prides himself on the ability to resolve difficult cases with a personal touch.

We could not be more happy with a devastating situation. When someone you love gets into an accident and it takes their life, Jim Thorson and Gill Switalla, (of Thorson, Switalla, Mondock and Sneed) become part of your family. They worked for us as if it was their personal loved one that was lost. J...
