Don’t hire criminal defense for family law

I experienced a profound professional disappointment. Initially, I believed he would be a fierce advocate, but his actions ultimately led to the loss of my case and custody of my child. He steered the case down impractical paths of litigation and consistently provided misguided advice. His allegiance... seemed skewed, often appearing more beneficial to the opposing side than to his own client. Communication was another major shortfall; he was unresponsive to calls and emails, not just from me, but also from the opposing counsel. His demeanor is defined by arrogance and overconfidence, yet these traits are not underpinned by genuine intelligence. His usual practice involves negotiating plea deals for the worst types of criminals, who he ironically often sees imprisoned. My advice? Seek representation elsewhere.

Horrible and very unprofessional!

Please don't waste your money on this guy! He has no communication and does not defend you he's more for the other party! He also doesn't show up in court with no explanation. He also makes desicions for you that you don't agree to! We wasted our time and money for over a year and he didn't do anythi...ng he claimed he was going to do. Also sends nasty ignorant letters when questioned instead of communicating the proper way! If I could rate a zero I would! Very unprofessional and rude!

Liar, Unprofessional

When I first met with Mark Lavelle he was "Sooo interested"... I was impressed thinking he would take care of my case. I was totally fooled by him. He talked with me twice over 3 months, sent me a reminder that he needed more money. I had paid him 90% of his fee before court. He never met with me ov...er waiting 3 months for pretrial to discuss his plan on representing me. Then when it came time to represent me in my misdemeanor case I had to call his office to have his legal aid remind him and make sure he knew I was to be in court that very evening. That night at court he BARELY SAID HELLO ( no pre discussion of how he intended to represent me ). Instead he went into the private office of the asst. prosecutor alone. He "sold me down the river". I wanted to go to trial knowing I was falsely accused...... I was not part of the pretrial which means I sat out in the hall while he met with the asst. prosecutor. He settled my case alright. FIFTEEN DAYS HOUSE ARREST. One yr. probation (plead guilty) for a misdemeanor..... Also it was considered a parole VIOLATION. All penalties, fines, were sprung on me without consulting with me..... I was HUSTLED QUICKLY in front of the Judge and then he BLEW OUT of the court while I was paying fines/ arrangements for ankle monitor, etc. .... I could not go anywhere. He told me that I would be able to grocery shop, also see my doctor. I was not allowed out of range of a monitor inside my home.. I tried reaching him with no answer to my calls. I would have been better off to represent myself. LOUSY
