Ian Friedman is a Partner at Friedman & Nemecek, L.L.C.. He has earned a fierce reputation for successfully defending individuals and organizations in complex criminal and white collar matters. Based in Cleveland, he has served as counsel across Ohio, the United States and internationally. He is a frequent lecturer, author, commentator, and expert witness called upon to address important legal issues. In addition to his practice, Mr. Friedman is an adjunct professor at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he teaches Cybercrime. He is also the current President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
Having tried in excess of 250 jury cases to verdict, Mr. Friedman was inducted into the prestigious American Board of Criminal Lawyers in 2010. He was named the first ever “Lawyer of the Year” in 2010 by the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That same year, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association bestowed upon him the William K. Thomas Professionalism Award for his ethical contributions and professional conduct in the legal profession. The Cleveland State University Alumni Association honored Mr. Friedman as the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus, Legal.
Mr. Friedman is regarded as the driving force and chief architect behind the transformation of the Ohio criminal justice system in what became commonly known as “Open Discovery” reform. As a result of his effort, accused persons in Ohio must now be provided all evidence intended to be introduced by the government against them at trial. Mr. Friedman has been routinely named in the “Best Lawyers in America”, Ohio Super Lawyers, National Trial Lawyers, and Inside Business Magazine as a leading criminal defense lawyer.

As a Federal Government employee, I became the target of an Office of Inspector General (O.I.G.) criminal investigation. I found Ian Friedman after doing research on several sites for a Federal Criminal Defense attorneys in Cleveland, Ohio. One thing that I was impressed with was his success rate at ...

Ian Friedman and his firm are one of the finest in northeast Ohio. When you step into their office and interface with their staff you feel a disappearance of the stress and anxiety that a legal issue can cause. In my past experience in legal matters, that does not happen with other attorneys and fi...

I contacted Ian friedman for a case I had pending in the Akron Ohio area, first off he was very very easy to talk to and extremely accommodating , his only concern then was putting my mind at ease. I was possibly facing criminal charges and I asked another attorney friend of mind who I should call a...

I met Ian Friedman about 11 years ago during a difficult time. He made this process much easier for me during an appeal process (criminal case) for my boyfriend. He was the 3rd lawyer we had seen for this court case and from the beginning I knew he was different. Very honest about what he can do a...
"I endorse this lawyer. I worked with Attorney Friedman on a criminal case as a prosecutor. He was a zealous advocate for his client."
"Ian Friedman is one of the most well respected criminal defense lawyers in Ohio. He is an invaluable resource in the legal community and I would recommend him to anyone. If I needed a lawyer - he's who I would call."
"I endorse this lawyer. Ian an I have handled several matters together. He brings a high level of skill and professionalism to each case and his clients are well served."
"You will not find a harder working, more prepared, intelligent and caring attorney than Ian Friedman. He is a great asset to this profession, and has helped me in my own practice on several occasions for which I am grateful. Any client who employs the services of his office - including his partner and those associates in his office - I assure you that you are in great hands. I endorse this attorney a thousand times."
"I endorse this lawyer. This lawyers contributions to this site are invaluable. I happily endorse this lawyers work, ability and charity to those asking for advice. Further, I like to endorse good lawyers, because I find the AVVO rating system to be dishonest and corrupt. Frequently, disgruntled litigants on the opposing side (not your clients) will bash a lawyer on this site, pretending to be "your" client. When this situation is brought to AVVO attention, Avvo refuses to do anything to investigate and remove the false, slanderous "client" reviews. AVVO is a mean petty internet blog site trying to make money off of lawyers, and does not care if the public receives truthful information."
"Ian is an outstanding lawyer. When it comes to criminal defense, Ian is by far top of his game. The best part of his work is how he puts clients and potential clients at ease. He understands the law and with experience he's able to discuss cases with the people across the desk; not at them. Without hesitation, I'd recommend and refer cases to Ian."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. I would consider Ian to be one of the top criminal defense lawyers in Ohio. He has handled all levels of cases for my clients from DUI's to high profile matters. I would trust his judgment and ability with any criminal matter. He is thorough, diligent and always prepared. To this day, I am yet to refer a matter to him without the client ultimately thanking me for putting them in touch with Ian."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. Ian is committed, passionate, hardworking, and knowledgeable. If I needed a criminal defense lawyer, he's one of the people I would seriously consider hiring. I'm proud to endorse him."
