Brian David Joslyn

I hired Brian in 2012 and was involved in 2 separate cases and with the help of his staff I was able to pull through and be able to continue to raise my son and daughter. I had a prior attorney that did not keep me informed of anything. Right of the bat, Brian was telling me the worst case scenario... and letting me know the possible outcomes. Brian is the type of attorney that actually CARES about his clients. He is a very busy attorney, as well as every other attorney in Columbus, but he still found time to be attentive and involved in my case. Once the judgement came in, which was very unexpected, he took the extra time to contact my family, which wasn't something that I expected. Four years ago I retained Mr. Joslyn for $6000. He put me on his "watch list" to so he could warn me about any arrest warrant. Since that day I have not heard one thing from Mr. Joslyn or anyone from his firm. A few months ago I contacted them to find out if they knew anything about the status of my ...case. They knew nothing so I decided to end the attorney relationship. The secretary said she'll have to recalculate my retainer as an hourly rate. After several rounds of phone tag and getting no real answer from the secretary for about two weeks, she finally said I would get $470 back. I let her know that I thought that wasn't right because I haven't even heard from them one time since retaining them, not a single phone call or email or piece of advice or consultation, nothing. And, I was never told their hourly cost for keeping me on their "watch list" and never even told what the watch list is. I requested they send me a receipt to show the work they've done which they said they would do. About two weeks later and more phone tag and seeing no receipt in the mail, I finally received an email from Mr. Joslyn. saying that they owed me nothing more. Attached was kind of cryptic PDF with almost a hundred pages of the same thing over and over. It looked like some output from a computer program checking me against an arrest warrant list or so with an inserted time on each check. I don't really know because they never explained it to me at all. So, I don't agree with them that they owe me nothing from the entire $6000. This whole "watch list" thing feels almost like a scam especially after receiving their email receipt which looks like something someone hacked together to make it look like real work and how they treated me, not like a client but like someone just bothering them.

I hired Brian as my attorney in October of 2011 and in the beginning he talked a good game and said he would be able to do this and that. After he received my money, I would no longer get my phone calls returned and his office did not call me until the day before court to tell me that I had court. Wh...en I asked what I had court for, I found out that Brian made a deal without even consulting me first. His effort was very poor in so many areas that I won't even get into. His deal that he made without my knowledge, did not even get me a discovery pack so I could see how I got in trouble. So knowing what I know now how can an attorney make a deal without even knowing the facts on how a client got in trouble. I definitely would not recommend hiring Brian as an attirney
