An Outstanding Advocate – Professional, Compassionate, and Brilliant

I can’t speak highly enough about the exceptional legal support I received from Mr. Comley during an incredibly challenging time in my military career. Being the subject of a SHARP investigation was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve ever faced, but from our very first conversation, Mr. Comle...y demonstrated the utmost professionalism, empathy, and deep understanding of the military justice system. Nothing was overlooked—from reviewing the investigation documents to gathering evidence and meticulously preparing responses. It was clear that every move was calculated and backed by thorough legal knowledge and experience. What truly stood out was his timeliness and responsiveness. No question went unanswered, and I never felt left in the dark. Whether it was a late-night concern or a last-minute development, Mr. Comley was there—on time, every time. Beyond the legal skills, he genuinely cared about me as a person. I wasn’t just another case; I felt supported and heard every step of the way. That personal investment gave me confidence and peace of mind, which made a world of difference. Finally, the strategic and intelligent defense Mr. Comley crafted was nothing short of impressive. He identified weaknesses in the case and articulated my defense with clarity and strength. Thanks to his unwavering commitment and expertise, the case was resolved in my favor. If you are ever in need of legal representation, especially in something as serious and complex as a SHARP case, I cannot recommend Mr. Gilbert Comley enough. He is truly the Soldier's advocate.

Brandon - it was a pleasure and an honor to represent you. Unfortunately, your case represented one wherein the subject of the report was, in reality, a victim of the system's misuse. I am grateful to you for your unwavering honesty, your sincere and diligent interest in your case and most importantly, your trust. I hope you never need to call on your advocate again and I wish you the best in your continuing military career - that said, if you ever need assistance, just call.

Excellent Counsel

Gilbert (Joey) goes past being an excellent lawyer and is a great human being as well. He very clearly explained his thoughts and plan for the situation from the beginning and as it evolved. On top of this, he consistently demonstrated his compassion for myself, and made it clear he truly cared abou...t the best outcome for me and not for himself. He is intelligent, trustworthy, and diligent. I expected needing to hire a lawyer being a less than enjoyable experience, but I can honestly say that working with Joey was enjoyable. My case involved a national security clearance, and he was incredibly helpful and sophisticated in his ability to navigate government processes and red tape. I would recommend Joey to any and all of my friends and family if legal counsel was needed.

Thank you Drew and I am so happy that you can put this behind you and move forward without issue. I am honored that you chose me when your character came under attack. Your extraordinary potential, as demonstrated by your academic successes and your tremendous work as an intern with the Army, is something that I look forward to watching you apply in support of America's national security. Thank you for choosing to serve and the sky's the limit.

He’s the guy

During the lowest point of my Military Career, Mr. Comley (Joey) was there to help. He was the professional I needed when I had no one to turn to. He was personal and took a lot of the stress out of a terrible situation. He is a lawyer who cares. He worked tirelessly regardless of the time zone diffe...rence(8 hours). I could not have asked for anyone better and I will be forever thankful for him. I pray I never need his services again, but I would recommend him first to anyone who was put in a difficult situation like me.

Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to help you prove your innocence - you are the Non-Commissioned leadership that our U.S. Army Soldiers deserve. Keep climbing!

Genuine and Trustworthy

Joey assisted my family by providing guidance, legal counsel, and excellent representation while working to close our son's fatal injury case. The case remained open 18 months after his death despite numerous attempts to gain information from EPD. Upon making contact with Joey, he provided victim ...advocacy information, obtained case files and reports not previously provided by law enforcement, and made himself readily available to answer our questions. Joey showed compassion, empathy, and provided stellar service. Thank you Joey for helping our family gain closure in our son's tragic death. The world needs more lawyers and human beings like you. Words cannot express our gratitude.

“He saved my F@&$ing life!”

So I am Joey’s brother and a lawyer, but this is a true story that demonstrates what a great lawyer he is and how small our world is. About 8 years ago, I was representing a national welding manufacturer after a fire at an auto seat manufacturing plant in a Cleveland, Miss. Any potential machine make...r that could have been the source of the fire was invited to attend a meeting at the factory and inspect the scene before repairs. The fire occurred on a Saturday when the factory was not operating and fortunately the assistant manager, Todd Woodruff, happened to be at the office, checked the factory floor, saw the fire, and called the fire department. Thus, Todd was at the meeting with 25 other people, like me and my client. Todd was introduced first and I happened to be sitting next to him. I was last to introduce myself as we went around the room. After I introduced my client and myself, Todd Woodruff turned to me and asked, “How do you spell your last name?” I said Comley. He asked if I had a brother. I said yes. He asked, “Major Joey Comley?” Yes, I said. He exclaimed, “He saved my F$&@ing life! Your brother saved my f$&@img life!” Of course, all 25 people in the room are looking and listening now. Because Joey was a Cavalry Officer in combat in Iraq, I assumed Todd was talking about Joey saving his life in Iraq. So I asked, “Were you in Iraq with him?” He yelled, “No, he was my trial defense counsel in my court martial! He saved my F$&@ing life! I was accused of conduct unbecoming an officer for saying all kinds of crazy stuff, but I had an undiagnosed brain tumor. Joey got me a medical exam and my court martial dismissed. He saved my f$&@img life!” Joey was stationed at Fort Irwin, Calif. at that time and I can’t recall where Todd’s case was but it was on the west coast somewhere. Needless to say, at this point, the factory’s lawyers, who would like to blame my client for the fire, were about to vomit because their key witness is loving me because of what Joey did for him. The factory lawyers quickly broke up the meeting for us to tour the fire scene on the factory floor. Those lawyers were mortified as Todd called Joey on his cell and told him he was with me in Cleveland, Miss. and he was buying my lunch, drinks or dinner or anything! Todd followed me throughout the factory raving about Joey. In that moment, I don’t think my client could have been more proud to have me as their lawyer simply because of Todd’s reaction to Joey’s representation of him. Todd Woodruff has passed away, but I think he would want other service members and potential clients to know what Joey did for him.

Todd was then and remains my most difficult and interesting Client - I am most proud of the fact that when you met him, he was living his best life. Now that he is now gone, I am also grateful for the administrative victories we had; his family's receipt of his dependent and indemnity compensation (VA disability benefits) and his survivor benefit plan (retirement benefits), which both serve as enduring reminders of America's appreciation for his Service.

It was a privilege to serve in the Army with Joey, including our deployment together in Afghanistan. Now as a retired Soldier, and more importantly the mother of an Airman, I would trust Joey to represent me or my family."
