Leland has been practicing law in Kentucky for the past 14 years. He has handled nearly every type of criminal and family law case in Kentucky and knows not only what it takes to defend you but also what it takes to build a case from the ground up. By prosecuting thousands of cases from start to finish, Leland can offer sound legal advice and representation on any criminal charge or family law matter. Leland has also been asked to be a Legal Expert Anlayst for Local News Outlets. He has commented on important cases of national interest including the Breonna Taylor grand jury decision and he has also done hundreds of interviews for local, state and national media on cases of interest in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
As the Director of Media Communications and Spokesperson for the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney, Leland built strong relationships with members of the media. Leland offers effective and knowledgeable representation and a unique skill set of being able to reach out to the media community if necessary.
In 2013, Leland was appointed to lead the newly formed Violent Crimes Unit in Jefferson County. By working with top members in law enforcement from the US Attorney's Office, FBI, ATF and LMPD, Leland developed many relationships and learned how cases are developed and potential targets are assessed.
In 2002, Leland began his legal career working for the Jefferson County Attorney, now Court of Appeals Judge, Irv Maze. Leland handled a large caseload consisting of serious felony arraignments and preliminary hearings, possession and trafficking of drugs, child support, traffic, no insurance, speeding and DUI cases, gun possession, warrant cases, domestic violence, paternity and juvenile court cases.
Leland serves a wide range of clientele, and every client relationship is valued greatly and treated with dignity and respect. Leland has offices in downtown Louisville and in the East End to better serve the demanding schedules of my clients. Leland will work hard to be your advocate and your voice to ensure your case receives the attention it deserves.
