Disappointed

A coworker recommended that I contact Terris Harris of Sweet and Associates. I had been in an accident. During the initial consultation, Terris Harris seemed so professional and concerned about my legal matter. After I provided the firm with all the necessary records to review my case, my perception ...of Terris Harris began to change. Months went by before I ever heard from anyone in the firm. I would periodically call to get an update, and my calls were never returned by Terris Harris. He did not respond to emails. There was a complete lack of communication on his behalf, and I began to feel discouraged and disrespected. When people are faced with a legal matter and they don't work in the legal field, it is an overwhelming process. I thought that I had gone to a lawyer who actually cared about me and my case, but I was wrong. I am still recovering physically from the accident, and the emotional pain I have from being betrayed has caused me to seek counseling. He dragged his feet on my matter, and my statute of limitations was almost up before he filed an action. My case is still pending. The way Terris Harris treated me makes me want to give up. Clients are necessary for a lawyer to have a job. My advice to Terris Harris is to be genuine and honest with all of your clients and prospective clients. If you really don't want to help them, then please let them know in a timely manner so that they can seek another lawyer before their statute of limitations runs out.

Not very caring

He knows the law but does not care about his clients. He represented me in 2014, and I would never choose him to represent me again. He displays no degree of professionalism. He does not return calls or emails. Customer service is not a priority for him. He represented me in a personal injury case in... 2014. He tried to control everything and he met with the defendants behind my back. I felt that his behavior was not appropriate for a lawyer who is supposed to care about his client. It's bad enough to be injured by a negligent doctor and even worse to know that your lawyer doesn't care about you but only recovery. I do not recommend this lawyer unless you want to be treated badly. I'm not trying to make him look bad or incompetent, but customer service is so important to stay in business.

Uncaring

He knows the laws but needs to work on customer service. I know personal injury cases take time to pursue but as a client I have the right to updates. My lawsuit was filed on time and we were able to settle out of court but I wished this lawyer had been more responsive and receptive towards my feelin...gs and concerns and i wished I had been included more in the process since it was foreign to me.

Never updated me on anything

About 18 months ago, Attorney Harris represented me in a personal injury case. He never updated me on my case's status or when the two experts gave them a favorable opinion that my case would be worth taking. Every time, I ended up calling for updates. I would call several times for months at a time ...and I never got a response from Attorney Harris. I am not trying to make him look bad, but it made me feel bad to know that he did not seem interested in my case at all. I did receive a settlement but the whole process was so stressful and I had many sleepless nights filled with tears. Lawyers need to update their clients in a timely manner and show some degree of compassion because it doesn't feel good to know the doctors harmed you and then receive bad treatment from those hired to seek justice on a victim's behalf. How you treat your client is more important than the case itself.

Customer service

Mr. Harris represented me in 2010. The type of case involved defective products. I was referred to him by a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. The member who referred me knew Mr. Harris personally. Mr. Harris is very smart and very knowledgeable of the laws pertaining to filing lawsu...its, but he needs to improve on customer service skills. He got me a satisfactory settlement. However, he was very difficult to reach at times. It's required of a lawyer to keep his client informed. No client should be left feeling like their case doesn't matter. I was satisfied with my settlement, but I felt like he did not value my feelings by not keeping me updated. I'm not attacking this lawyer or trying to make him look bad, but he needs to understand that how you treat your client makes a big difference. Sure, we all want to win our case and walk away with a settlement, but you want to feel your life matters too.
