As for his background, Matt is a husband and father of three.  He serves his community in charitable organizations, attends Church, serves as counsel for various non-profits, and coaches youth football and baseball.   

Matt is a native of Brentwood, Tennessee and attended college at Lipscomb University graduating in 1993 with a B.S. in Biology.  Matt then attended law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1998. During law school, Matt was one of only a few law students selected to the University of Memphis law review and the Moot Court Board.  Matt also received the Glencoe McGraw-Hill Award for the most outstanding graduate paper in the nation, and he was inducted as a pupil into the American Inns of Court. 

Matt was recruited to Montgomery County by the law firm of Batson, Nolan, Harvey & Williamson.  Matt practiced as an associate for four years and then became a name partner in the firm with the firm's name ultimately becoming Batson, Nolan,PLC.   Today Matt is lead counsel and helps oversee Batson, Nolan's litigation sections in the areas of insurance defense, perosnal injury, and surrogacy.  

Matt is also widely recognized as a top surrogacy attorney and practices in cases involving Assisted Reproductive Technology, gestational surrogacy, traditional surrogacy and by referral, cases involving complex family law issues. 

Matt is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee and Kentucky Bar Associations, and the Montgomery County Bar Association, the CJA, and is published as a legal author in both law review and legal journals.
