I am strictly a CRIMINAL and D.U.I. DEFENSE Attorney since October of 2000.  I represent clients in Phenix City, AL (Russell County) and Eufaula, AL (Barbour County).  My prior years as a Death Penalty and Violent Crimes Prosecutor gives me the advantage of seeing not only the "strengths" of the prosecution's case; but also the "weaknesses" in the prosecution's case.  Althougth I represent Client's in most criminal matters, my areas of concentration are Capital Murder (where my Client is facing a sentence of the Death Penalty or Life Without the Possibility of Parole), violent crimes, sexual assault crimes, and child sex abuse crimes.  As for Capital Murder cases, where mosts attorneys handle only a few of these serious cases in their career, I have represented over forty (40) clients charged with Capital Murder.  Of those forty (40) capital clients, only eight (8) of those capital clients were convicted of Capital Murder.  A large majority of my capital clients were convicted of a lesser offense, found NOT GUILTY or the case was DISMISSED.  ADDITIONALLY, over the last few years, ESPECIALLY IN THE CURRENT #METOO MOVEMENT, my law firm has seen a significant increase in individuals being FALSELY accused of SEXUAL ASSAULT, sex abuse of children (child molestation) due to a variety of factors (divorce, child custody dispute, step-child upset over disciplinary punishment by step-parent, etc....)  PLEASE BE AWARE.  In Alabama, if you plead guilty or convicted of ANY misdemeanor or felony sex offense; you will be REQUIRED to register as a sex offender for the REST OF YOUR NATURAL LIFE, pursuant to the ALABAMA SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION AND NOTIFICATION ACT (SORNA)!!!  A client's BEST CHANCE to have the BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME in his/her case is at the "trial level."  If you choose to be represented by an attorney without the necessary experience and expertise at the "trial level" and are convicted...........there is not much a "retained/hired" criminal defense attorney can do AFTER you are convicted.  The success rate in "overturning" criminal convictions on appeal in Alabama is "no more than 10%!"  Therefore, it is always best to HIRE a competent and experienced criminal defense attorney to represent you at the trial level and SOON after your initial arrest.  I am a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYERS (NACDL) and the ALABAMA CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYERS ASSOCIATION (ACDLA).  I am CERTIFIED by the NACDL and ACDLA as a CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY IN CAPITAL MURDER (DEATH PENALTY) CASES and as a CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY IN ADULT AND CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES.
