Jamie has never failed to return a call, email or question in the last 4+ years. He handled my chapter 13 case. I have had major life changing events due to failing health, and Jamie was informative, wise and so understanding. He spoke to me in terms I could understand. I've dealt with over 8 lawyers in my 56 years and only wish Jamie could have handled all the cases! Jamie treated me like an old family friend and not just a paying client. After his help and info I received ASAP, I could finally put my fears and mind at ease. Anyone thinking about hiring him would be very smart to do so! A wise choice for a very wise man! Thanks to Jamie, my major life change has been a breeze with his help and knowledge! I'd hire him again and again if I need to. Awesome, wonderful HUMAN BEING! Not just another pretty face, haha

  • Doesn't keep his word nor does he return phone calls!!!

Initially he seemed as if he could help but I was wrong. I thought I found the best bankruptcy attorney in my area. He doesn't return phone calls and has been rude over the phone. Once it was time for me to go to court because of him not being prepared he called me upset because I wasn't moving fast enough getting him the answers he needed, I was in a meeting at work! My son's father is currently under a bankruptcy and was not paying child support, we filed a motion to dismiss and I was told by Mr.Lois that if he ever missed a payment to contact him, I did on several occasions with no returned phone call. I even faxed him letters. He left me a message about a month ago stating he didn't have to pursue him (my childs father) and if I wanted him to it would be an extra charge. Definitely not his words in court so now he pays whenever he wants but yet I'm receiving paperwork to increase my bankruptcy payments! He's making good money off of me but that's all that matters to him. Once you go to court and it's over and he's set to get his money then really your no longer a client. I'm looking at other options and speaking to the trustee because there's no need to pay someone who's not keeping up their end of the bargain or returning phone calls. In other words, he's all talk until you sign on the dotted line.

Hired Loris law firm in Selma 2012, was very nice when we got into Chapt. 13. Have been trying to get in touch regarding an increase to my payments. Have called the Selma and Mobile office and I cannot get in touch with anyone.

James Edward Loris Jr.’s response: “I'm sorry if you've had trouble reaching either myself or my staff. The most common reason for the Trustee's Motion to Increase Payments is either due to missed plan payments or debt has been added to your case. Please call my direct extension at (251) 281-1386 and I'll be happy to explain the reason for the increase and any options you have if this not affordable to you. Jamie Loris”

I filled chp 13 back in 2012 and it went pretty well. This month will be my last payment. The Loris law firm was good to me through out my bankruptcy. They seem to stay busy and sometimes I had to wait a few days for returned phone calls or emails but I was never forgotten. I would recommend this law firm to my friends and family.

  • Bad communication

We hired this lawyer to file our chapter 13 case. At our first meeting we loved him and he was very helpful. We filed our case and had no problems. A year after filing our vehicle that was included in our chapter 13 case was totaled. We called his office and emailed countless times for him to call us back on what to do. He NEVER responded at all. It took 3 months for our lien holder to pay off our vehicle with the trustee due to them having difficulty getting in touch with our lawyer. I think we left him about 20 messages over the course of a few months and he never called us back. He has very poor communication with his clients.

James Edward Loris Jr.’s response: “I have tried to realize which of our client's this fact situation applied to, however neither my staff or I have. This is a pretty common situation in Chapter 13 cases, which usually occurs when you have an inexperienced claims adjuster involved and commonly blames either the attorney or the trustee's office for his conduct and lack of progress. I wish you would contact me at my direct extension at (251) 281-1386, so I could review your file with you one on one and explain your frustration with your insurance adjustor and answer your concerns. Please give me a call.”

My husband & I paid him $1506 to file chapter 7, yes 7.
Since then my daughters have received Ssdi pay back checks from their father that was put in a savings account for college fund. He now can't do 7 because of my minor children's acct having my name on it & he wants to TRY chapter 13. Thing is all of the past credit history I have are things my ex husband made me sign for & he now has possession of & I don't feel it's right for me to pay for things he has! Now, he won't refund our money although he's done nothing, "can't" do what we hired him to do & I have not signed a contract agreeing to any of this.
Then when you call he isn't there, won't return your call or try to rationally explain why the change & what we need to do. He was down right rude on the phone.
