…WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY…
I hired Kyle in Nov 2019 to help update child support for my child of the major (20yrs of age at the time), to remove my name from the home that I gave my ex-wife via quick claim deed (6yrs after the divorce and she had been remarried for 3 hrs at the time) and to address a custody agreement that was...
I hate that you feel that you had a bad experience. Although we focus on criminal defense and probate, our goal is make every client feel appreciated - especially in contentious family law cases which oftentimes take much longer than anybody would prefer. I cannot ethically discuss the specifics of a case in a forum such as this, but, generally over that period of time in a family law case numerous hearings would occur - and issues would be settled - even if the case continued on to resolve other issues. A couple of thoughts concerning our general policies and procedures that I want to address though: (1) We require a signed agreement in every matter that is opened. This allows us to be on the same page regarding the scope of representation and the fees & costs involved. This agreement does not spell out a timeframe, because every case is different and the timeline often time changes drastically based on the case strategy - i.e. if discovery is required and if so how in depth. (2) We provide updates no less than once every 45 days via written letter (or email if preferred). Additionally, we have a free available application for iOS and Android, called Case Status, where you can always view your most recent case updates and ask questions of our team. (3) Although in family law cases, we do require an upfront retainer to be held in trust. We always provide itemized statements regarding where, how, and when those funds are billed against as the case progresses. (4) You are completely correct that email is oftentimes not the quickest way to receive a response from our team. I generally respond to emails sent to me directly by the end of the following business day, but our team is available via phone during regular business hours to address concerns, provide updates, get questions to me, or setup a time for clients to meet with me directly. If you have any questions, please never hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to provide context as much as possible. -Kyle
