After graduating from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1992, I began practicing law in Huntsville with the law firm of Wilmer & Shepard, P.A.
In February 1995 I left the firm and began my own office. Since then I have represented clients in a variety of legal matters, ranging from complex litigation involving several parties to business transactions and personal legal matters. By my estimates I have successfully tried over 100 cases in federal and state court.
In 2010, after completing a comprehensive written examination, being reviewed by other attorneys and judges before whom I have tried cases, and providing proof of my trial experience, I obtained the designation of a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocay. I am one of only 3 attorneys in Huntsville / Madison County who maintains this certification. I also am AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
I am actively involved in the American Association of Justice (AAJ), being a member of the Sections on Motor Vehicle and Premises Liability, Products Liability, and Insurance Law, and the Nursing Home Litigation Group. Having obtained over 200 continuing legal education (CLE) credits for participating in trial colleges and seminars sponsored by AAJ, I obtained the designation of Fellow.
During my legal career I have repesented clients in well over 100 mediations. Because this has always interested me, I have taken the necessary course and completed the process to be registered on the Alabama State Court Mediator Roster. It is my sincere desire to develop and maintain an active mediation practice.
My office's philosophy is simple -- prepare each case as though it is going to be tried before a jury. In this day and age of quick settlements and gimmicky advertising, this may seem somewhat archaic. However, I honestly believe that there is no substiute for preparation and experience.
