I have practiced law in Birmingham, Alabama for twenty-one years.  I focus on probate, estate, and trust litigation as well as estate planning and estate and trust administration.  I also handle real estate litigation matters, especially those related to trusts and estates.

I concentrate my practice on family disputes over inherited assets and claims against executors and trustees.  This includes will contests, spousal rights issues, negotiations, paternity disputes, executor and trustee misconduct, and joint account litigation.  

I frequently assist clients with trust and estate matters not involving litigation.  This part of my practice includes probating wills, administering trusts and estates, and dealing with the other legal issues caused by the death of a family member.  I also represent clients in drafting wills, trusts, advance directives, prenuptial agreements, and durable powers of attorney.   

I have earned an AV Preeminent® rating, the highest rating category, from Martindale-Hubbell. From 2016 to 2021, B-Metro magazine has named me to its Birmingham "Top Lawyers" list.  I lecture frequently for other lawyers on both a state and a national level regarding estate, trust, probate, and related litigation topics.

Highly Recommend
I have worked with Thad Davis for nearly 2 years on my brothers estate. No matter how complex it gets, he knows just how to handle things. He goes above and beyond. He is very educated on probate, estate planning. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for these services.

Knowledgeable and Efficient - and to the point
Thad solved our issue getting a trust company to release our assets to us after they demanded extreme liability protection and indemnification - or, they would hold up the transfer for months or years with unnecessary and duplicitous legal proceedings. Bottom line: Thad knew the law, they did not. We had it done in 2 weeks.

Very Professional Attorney
I am the Personal Representative for by best friend’s wii in Georgia Thad was referred to me by my estate attorney in Georgia to transfer a deed to property in Alabama to the heir who resides in Georgia. I can not say enough good things about his professionalism. He goes way above the call of duty to keep you informed on what he is doing. He will text you first, then he will send you an e mail and finally he will call you, you never have to wonder what he is doing. The most impressive thing he did was to refund me over $800 from a retainer fee that I was not expecting. Finally, he has impeccable professionalism and is an even better person. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Extremely helpful
He made sure to keep me informed about any particular problems that may arise in the unfortunate circumstance when someone dies and you find yourself taking over their estate. He was able to tell me exactly what I should be looking for in all the paperwork, as well as things that I should follow up on. If I had any problems calling anyone, he called on my behalf. He worked diligently and met all the deadlines. His rate is reasonable for the amount of time he puts in. Communication skills are good, very personable and easy to discuss all the answers for all the different questions you will undoubtedly have. I had about ten thousand, and he patiently took them all; if he did not have an answer immediately, he made sure to get back to me with one. The law can be pretty daunting at times, and there's so many ways to make an error that could end up causing (and costing$$) a problem later on down the line. It's good to have someone on your side who not only wants to do their job, but also genuinely cares about the well being of the client. It's difficult to put a price on that.

Thad Davis is the most compassionate and helpful attorney I've ever come in contact with

Absentee lawyer
In 2006 Thad Davis drew a will for me along with a Power of Attorney, for which I paid him a large sum of money. He has the original of my will. Since then, he moved his office without informing me. Recently I tried to get in touch with him. I called several times and got an answer machine. He has not called back. My E-mail failed to go through because there was no code to "recognize." Where is Thad Davis? And why won't he answer my calls? His office appears to be in the Summit, but is he actually there?
