Dishonest, Unprofessional, Unethical, Uncaring

WARNING! BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE MR. WILLIAM REED. I retained Mr. William Reed for my divorce to assist with child support issues. When I met with Mr. Reed at his office he promised me the world and assured me he had all the experience & expertise to handle my case. It is now 5 months later and he ...delivered ZERO results and on the contrary I am in a worse position than when I started. Mr. Reed is extremely unorganized, condescending, arrogant, bully, uncaring, and flat out unprofessional. When I first retained Mr. Reed he informed me that the initial hefty retainer would be more than enough to cover my case and stated it was non-refundable. He also stated that I would receive monthly itemized invoices showing me how my retainer was being spent down and when near depletion. I never received ANY such itemized invoices; he waited until I was in the negative to then send me a bill requesting another hefty amount of money to continue my case even though he had zero results. I had no intention of continuing services with Mr. Reed once the initial non refundable retainer was exhausted due to his lack of performance. Mr. Reed knew this so he tried to bully and corner me against the wall with a negative balance (Dishonest). I emailed Mr. Reed requesting the negative balance be dismissed since I was not notified. I supplied Mr. Reed with a copy of his contract we both signed pointing out he had broken the contract. Mr. Reed disregarded my email by replying: “The debt remains due and will begin incurring interest in 30 days. In 90 days, if unpaid, the debt will be turned over to my collection attorney. I wish you good luck and good fortune in the future.” (Condescending & Arrogant) I tried calling the office to contact Mr. Reed to discuss the matter and his paralegal Shelly informed me “Mr. Reed will not take your calls, if you have anything to say it needs to be in writing or email only”. (Unprofessional) This is not how you treat a paying customer. Needless to say I am now out a hefty sum of money, zero results, 5 months behind on my case, and need to incur more financial cost & time finding a new attorney that is competent.

This former client is deeply upset at the judge's rulings in his case but he chooses to attack the closest and easiest target; his lawyer. He took it very personally that the judge did not agree with him. Regrettably, such unhappy people can mix together any number of lies, half-truths, false impressions, and misstatements because they believe that they can do so with impunity. Ordinarily, one would be sued for libel for such conduct. After 26 years dealing with high conflict family law cases, I deeply understand that such persons are lashing out in anger and emotional pain, and a libel lawsuit simply creates a vehicle for continuation of such pain. Thus, the seasoned litigator simply absorbs the injustice and moves on. I hope this former client has success in the future and is able to experience some healing.

Child Support Case

I was provided outstanding service with my child support case. This team full understood family law and was able to get my child support reduced due to one of my children aging out. Moreover, they understood military life and pay. Lastly, they informed me on every step and exactly what I needed to do... to assist them in my case. I definitely received great legal representation at a very reasonable price.

Compassionate, patient bankruptcy lawyer

Mr. Reed helped me and my wife deal with a major problem with the IRS. We got the problem under control with a Chapter 13 plan which we are almost done with. Thru it, Mr. Reed has been supportive, helpful, and patient. He has always responded to us promptly and has never billed us for all the extra w...ork he has done.

EXTREMELY UNPROFFESSIONAL

I hired William M Reed in 2008 because I had to urgently file for bankrupcty in 2008 during the recession. During the free consultation he stated he would be there every step of the way. And if I had any questions to call or email him. A few months after hiring him I began to receive mail from the d...istrict in referece to my case. The problem was I didn't understand the terminology being used in the letters. So, I called William a few times and he was never in the office. I sent him an email letting him know I dropped off mail in his office. In the email I explained I did not understanding the language being used in the letters and if he give me a call to let me know what these letters are saying. He never replied or called me back. Dropping off letter for explainations, emails, and calling him for help happened on a few occassions. His one and only reply was, "Just read the letters and if you ever drop of letters, email me, or call me I will start charging you." Then during the "Meeting of the Creditors" he didn't even show up. In his stead he sent someone else who had completely no idea what my case was about. When I ask him where William was he stated William couldn't make it. The following week I had to pick up paperwork from William and William himself stated he couldn't make it to the meeting because he had to work on a big case. On a couple occassions (after hiring William) I would still receive letters and phonce calls from creditors the weren't at the meeting of the creditors, apparently William didn't notify all my creditors of my bankruptcy status. Because they were even aware of the fact that I had filed for bankruptcy. But, once I gave them my case number it was laid to rest. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND WILLIAM M. REED AS A LAWYER.

This case closed over six years ago and the client was very happy with his services. He has not contacted me since then until submitting this review. If a creditor is hassling him, I would have gladly helped him with the problem. I am disappointed that he chose such a confrontational way to communicate.
