Jonathan is admitted to practice in all State Courts in Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Jonathan is a member of the Florida Bar, and the Sarasota County Bar Association. A copy of Mr. Whitney's resume can be found here. Jonathan is the current Chair-elect to the Civil Trial Section of the Sarasota County Bar Association, which is tasked with promoting the knowledge and professionalism of civil trial practitioners. He is a past member of the Honorable John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, which is devoted to the advancement of legal scholarship.
Jonathan is an avid writer; he frequently contributes to the Sarasota County Bar Association's monthly publication The Docket. Jonathan received The Most Significant Service Member Project award from the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar for his contributions to the Sarasota County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Salary Survey project. A copy of the published article, Salary survey - the results are in! was originally published in Vol. 24 The Docket (News from the Sarasota County Bar Assoc.) 6 (June 2007).

In his free time, Jonathan is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In the past, Jonathan regularly competed in tournaments throughout the year. During a temporary return to Maine in 2009, Mr. Whitney had the honor of being a founding member of the Mixed Martial Arts Authority of Maine, having been appointed to the position by then-governor John E. Baldacci, whose task was to implement the governmental regulation and oversight of mixed-martial arts competition within the State of Maine.
