A question that I am often asked is "why have you dedicated so much of your career to defending criminals?"

The answer is this. First, experience has proven to me that many people who find themselves arrested or accused of a crime are hardworking, decent people who have made a mistake. Often these mistakes are the end point of complex and difficult circumstances in a persons’ life that have ultimately led to an error in judgment. For these individuals, the unfamiliar process of an arrest can be particularly stressful and confusing. These individuals need help navigating the dark waters of the Court process and this turbulent time in their life. With proper guidance and representation, these persons will return to being the productive citizens and family members they have been and that they want to be again. There will always be plenty of people to cast stones at the accused. However, it is my belief that being an effective advocate for the person in this circumstance benefits us all.

Second, experience and raw statistics has also proven that there are many more people who are falsely accused of crimes than most people will ever realize.

In my years practicing law, I have seen false or mistaken accusations leveled at my clients by strangers, friends, family members, domestic partners, employers, employees and law enforcement. Too often these accusations result in an arrest and irrevocable damage to the accused. I take pride in knowing that I have helped individuals fight back when faced with false or mistaken accusations and that I have played a role in restoring freedom and reputation to those who might otherwise have met a different plight.

Finally, I enjoy a good challenge. I represent people and my goal is to not allow my clients to be steamrolled by a system that too often devalues personal rights in the pursuit of security.

I have spent my entire life and 18 year professional career in this community.

My philosophy in creating McIntosh Law was to build a firm dedicated to personalized, superior, results-oriented representation.

Over two years ago I was charged with 11 felonies for drug trafficking & possession with intent to sell. Most people assume in this position, their life is over. When in reality, all you need to do is hire someone like Brett McIntosh who is a compassionate & knowledgeable criminal defense attorney. My personal experience working with Brett, & everyone in his law firm, especially Beth Loeffler, was not only professional & precise, it was more than that.They gave me my life back, & everything in between. It was their capability in diving deep into my case, finding anything & everything to be meticulous about it in order to help their clients in any way, shape, or form. I am beyond grateful for the diligent work and performance McIntosh law achieved in winning in court, and for getting all of my charges DROPPED. I was facing a minimum of 15 years & to be sitting here writing this review is so extraordinary to me, due to the relief I feel because of McIntosh law is something I can't thank them enough for. Mr. Brett McIntosh knew exactly what he needed to do in order for justice to prevail in my case. I'm convinced he absolutely had a game plan right out the gate to prove my innocence and restore my name. He answered all my questions promptly and honestly and knew exactly what needed to be done to have my false charges against me dismissed. Mr. McIntosh gave me my life back and I would give him 10 stars on here if I could. I'm 100% convinced he would make sure that the legal system is fair and that none of his clients would be taken advantage of by the legal system or false accusations. His incredible amount of experience (28 years) and knowledge of the law is second to none. Thank you SIR for giving me my life back. Mr. McIntosh did not set me up for failure. He did not sugar coat my charge or lie to me at any point, he was straight forward and up front about everything. He is as I was told an Attorney that State Prosecutors want to avoid at all costs due to his immense experience, his court procedure and the fight he goes out of his way to defend his clients. Mr. McIntosh is that and much more if you find yourself looking at the wrong side of the law for any reason I urge you to contact him without any doubt what so ever. He had my case dismissed without me even having to go to court once. I spent 20 years in the Military and I'm telling my fellow Brothers and Sisters here to find Brett if you have legal issues. He is not a Blue Falcon he will not give in to the Prosecutors to spare some hard work. Thank you Mr. McIntosh David King. DUSTOFF

Criminal Defense Attorney, Brett McIntosh, has had a reputation in Manatee and Sarasota Counties for a very long time as an attorney who fights for his clients no matter the circumstances! I am sure that reputation will and continue to grow for many more years as Brett is the real deal and will do all he can to reach the best, most fair result for his clients. My family recently had an unfortunate experience resulting in an exaggerated felony charge on a juvenile. After consulting with Brett, it was clear that he was fair, honest and extremely skilled in his practice area. Brett was not only able to get the original felony charge lowered to a misdemeanor, but worked diligently with us and the State Attorneys office ultimately negotiating the result of Nolle Prosequi. Well Done Mr. Mcintosh!! We highly, highly, highly recommend McIntosh Law!!

Bret worked very hard to get my dui offense reduced to a reckless driving offense making my terms of probation much simpler to complete! Bret Save me a lot of money, time and also the aggravation of losing my license for a year! Bret also made it so I could be off of probation as soon as I paid for my court costs which could be as soon as 30 days! Bret and his staff were there the whole time keeping me informed of the my situation through the whole process and did a excellent job representing me!

Two years ago I was charged with a felony and my lawyer and I agreed that a plea agreement was my best choice of action. Within the first year my lawyer died unexpectedly, two months before my first sentencing hearing. My family made numerous calls to lawyers in the Sarasota area and Brett McIntosh was recommended and took on my case. He is a very smart and knowledgeable attorney who was also easy to talk with. We discussed my situation at length and he explained every aspect of my case with me. He worked hard for a year through numerous postponements on my behalf and was able to get my sentence lowered. He is an excellent attorney who treated me like a person and not just a client. I made poor choices which led to my arrest and he believed in me and knew I was a good person. Thanks to him I will be able to get my life back on a positive track sooner than I hoped.

Brett and Kevin are outstanding, diligent lawyers who work extremely hard on behalf of their clients. They were able to get my grandson's sentence reduced to a charge that was unbelievably fair and just. What he was facing was extremely serious, and I needed to find a very good lawyer to help him. I interviewed several lawyers before I picked them, because I felt they offered the most realistic approach and were willing to work hard for the best outcome possible. Over the last year, I was so impressed with their communication, honesty and directness along the way. They never over-promised anything but kept their communication down to earth and very real so I could understand what was happening as the days/months passed. I also can't say enough about their Paralegal, Joanne MacNicol, who is super accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly without fail. I highly recommend them and can't say enough positive about this group.

I would like to extend my appreciation to Brett McIntosh, for being in his element, patience, and a great role model. His diligence, self-motivation as well as his dedication have been a source of inspiration and confidence to work toward my legal degree. Mr. McIntosh agreed to represent me and I am 5 counties away. I originally hired Mr. McIntosh on 8/05, after 6 months of dealing with an incompetent Public Defender. The first time I spoke to Mr. McIntosh, he request a profile and listened to my version of the event leading to the arrest. For 6 months I was number 11-2018-MM-XXXX, I was no longer a person or had a name. Within one weeks of hiring Mr. McIntosh, an offer was made. Mr. McIntosh educate and listen to all and any questions I may have. He never coerce and was patient. On 8/20, my first court appearance with Mr. McIntosh, he elaborately introduce me to the judge, “he made the judge see me”. The day before the hearing, the judge denied his order for continuance. While in court, he articulately had it overturn. Within one week of the court appearance, Mr. McIntosh had the charges dropped

My family originally hired Brett in 1999 for serious charges, state was offering 17 years. I will never forget the day when Mr. McIntosh asked me" would you like to take the states offer or should I prepare for trial"? Without hesitation I said, " prepare for trial", that's how much faith and trust i have in Brett. Mr. McIntosh and his dedicated staff put their heart and soul in my case (which took about 2 years) had a trial jury and won! I now have my own "statue" that people in my position can use in court. Brett is one of the best trial attorneys I have ever seen, he faught for me like I was his own daughter. Just recently ,2019, I found myself in a little bit of trouble my first instinct was to call Brett and without hesitation he was there for me and everything went in my favor. I personally have a special bond with Brett. God and Brett worked together and saved my life in 1999. This is the man to go to if you have any criminal charges. He will work for you like no other attorney will, he is highly respected and to be honest I think a lot of attorneys are afraid or maybe intimidated to go up against him. When you hire Brett and he tells you something and I know it's hard but just believe what he says because he's honest , upfront and to the point. He will always be my Attorney and I'm actually going to be working with him on something in a few months. Brett is a wonderful man, his staff is wonderful and are on every detail.
