Terrible

I am from out-of-state and received a traffic violation in Collier County, so I wanted an attorney for this. I was referred to Adam Oosterbaan via a law firm that I use in Ohio. He was very rude and unprofessional. For instance, when he answered, I asked, "I am looking for Adam Oosterbaan?" After he ...confirmed it was him, I started describing my matter. He abruptly cut me off and said something along the lines of, "Who are you again? Do I know you? Do not ever call me by my first name again. You can call me Mr. Oosterbaan." He then scolded me for sending photos of the ticket instead of scanning it, though the photos were completely legible. Plus, I had sent the photos to my law firm in Ohio, and they forwarded the photos to him. Though he made a terrible impression on me, I still discussed further with him. His legal strategy was appalling. He wanted me to plead guilty and hope the judge likes me and withheld adjudication. I am no lawyer, but even I knew that was not the correct strategy to get the best possible outcome, so I started looking for new attorneys. From speaking with no less than five other attorneys, I was advised the correct legal strategy would be to first try to have the case dismissed all together, and if that did not work, negotiate a deal with the Court to enter a not guilty or no contest plea and have adjudication withheld. I could not trust Adam Oosterbaan to defend me, so my Ohio law firm recommended a different firm, and this new firm has been incredibly polite, helpful, and diligent so far. Save yourself the time and humiliation and get an attorney that will not belittle you and will actually have a decent strategy to defend you.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
