Robert Hanaford has been involved in litigating and trying some of the most complex Civil and Criminal cases in State and Federal Court.
These cases include insurance fraud, fraud in sale of a magazine publishing company, the Chicago Tribune sale fraud case pending in United States Federal District Court, Southern District New York, representation of a medical group in a Federal kick back criminal case in Pennsylvania Federal Court Defense of law enforcement officials in Federal Court and many complex personal injury and death cases resulting from commercial diving, construction, train and aviation accidents.
AGGRESSIVE DUI DEFENSE
I have been certified in the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) Standard Field Sobriety Testing which is the standard to which police officers must comply in DUI arrests and Certified in the Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course recognized by NHTSA. I am a candidate for receiving a NHTSA Instructor Certification to instruct the proper techniques for DUI arrests and Standard Field Sobriety Testing.

In the early years I worked for Federal Judge Nick Bua, United States Federal District Court, Northern District of Illinois from whom I learned not only Federal Procedure, but the quality of empathy, humility and that all people deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. I later worked for Chicago law firms representing insurance companies, including Hartford, State Farm and the Illinois Insurance Guaranty Fund, in construction, aviation, medical malpractice, trucking transportation accidents and work injuries.
I now focus my practice on representing clients in personal injury, wrongful death and criminal and DUI defense. The firm also represents pilots in FAA and NTSB matters and police officers in claims involving State and Federal liability, including criminal and DUI defense.
