Albert Meyer Frierson

I am a certified circuit and county private mediator. At present. I limit my practice to mediation. My area of practice includes all of Southwest Florida from Tampa Bay to Naples including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee and Collier Counties. I also handle cases along the I-4 corridor from Lakeland (Polk County) to Orlando (Orange County) and I regularly mediate from West Palm Beach (Palm Beach County) to Miami (Dade County) on the East Coast of Florida.

After graduating from Duke Univerity School of law in 1962, I began the practice of law with the firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt in Fort Myers, Florida. In the first year, in addition to civil litigation and jury trials, I started handling the firm's Workers' Compensation practice on the defense. Over the years, the firm grew to more than 60 attorneys and I was the manager of the Workers' Compensation Department which, at one time, had twelve attorneys. From time to time, I also managed the entire firm. Over the years, I represented more than 50 Insurance Companies and numerous employers. I retired from the firm in 2003 and for the past ten years, I have worked full time as a self employed private mediator. I am a certified Circuit and County Mediator. 

 I have now been a member of the Florida Bar for 50 years. I was one of the founding members of the Workers' Compensation Section of The Florida Bar. I served the Section twice as Chair and served on the Executive council for 15 years. I helped implement the Board Certification Program for the Section and became Board Certified in 1988.

I was appointed by three different Florida Governors to serve on Legislative Task forces on the Workers' Compensation have been recognized in two publications in the field of Workers' Compensation Law. See: Workers' Compensation in Florida 1935-1995 and  The Circle Solution, How Florida's Bold Reform of Workers' Compensation -  Wage Loss - Came About (1982). In 1986, I was the Honoree of The Friends of 440 in Miami, Florida. In 2008, I was inducted into the College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers in New Orleans, Louisianna. In 2012, I was inducted into the Workers' Compensation Institute Workers' Compensation Hall of Fame. I have been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1995 as well as Leading American Attorneys  in 1998. I was given an "AV" rating by Martindale- Hubbell Lawyers Directory in 1978 and have maintained that rating ever since. The attached picture shows the five lawyers who were honored at the Florida Bar Convention in 2013 after practicing Workers' Compensation Law for 50 years. I am on the far right.
