JONATHAN JAMES DAMONTE is a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist (B.C.S.) in Condominium and Planned Development Law, and Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, based in Largo, Florida. He is the principal of Jonathan James Damonte, Chartered, a Florida professional services corporation. He received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, Tampa, in 1976, and a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from Stetson College of Law, St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1979. He is a member of the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law (RPPTL) Section and its Condominium & Planned Development Committee and a member of the Florida Bar Business Law section and its Computer and Technology Committee. He is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association and the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and a past president of the Pinellas Mid-County Bar Association.
He is a member of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and its Suncoast Chapter. He was awarded the 2006 and 2008 Professional Business Partner of the Year awards by the Suncoast Chapter of CAI for his volunteer work with CAI and served on the CAI's Florida Legislative Alliance for twelve (12) years. He has been a frequent speaker and panelist for the Suncoast Chapter of CAI. He has been a speaker for the Clearwater Bar Association’s "Peoples’ Law School" and for the Greater Tampa Realtors Association (GTAR) about real estate and community associations law. He is a DBPR approved homeowners' association Board of Directors trainer.
He has been a licensed Florida real estate broker and an agent for The Attorney's Title Insurance Fund since 1984. He owned and operated a title company in Marion County for eighteen (18) years. He has closed hundreds of millions of dollars of commercial real estate transactions including apartment buildings, automobile service centers, office buildings, triple-net lease transactions, shopping centers, and mobile home parks, closed tens of thousands of residential real estate transactions through his title company in Marion County and his office in Largo, and has converted forty (40) mobile home parks to resident-ownership.
A substantial portion of his practice is devoted to the representation of community associations, including condominiums, cooperatives, homeowners' associations and resident-owned mobile home parks, as well as real estate developers, real estate investors and lenders, commercial property owners, landlords, and mobile home park owners.
