Honestly, at first I decided to not hire Joe Montrone as my lawyer. And, it going to lie, I regretted that decision, after a while. Mr. Montrone was hired as attorney after I was stopped on vacation and charged with a DUI. Being from out of state, I was totally at a loss as to the process or whom to hire, who to trust... I was referred by (a local) a friend of a friend. IT'S NEVER a good feeling to have to hire a attorney, let alone one in another state! Inmates can be extremely different, but all share this one opinion: Probation is just a furlough. I learned that lesson. I received no help or guidance, of any form, from the probation department. I would call multiple times in a given week, to schedule an appointment or get information, only to be completely ignored. Even when going there in person, I left with nothing but a list of completion requirements that I already had. At one point they even actively worked against me completing one of my requirements. I registered for a Victim Impact Panel on my own. There was one person in the probation office that handles registration for the once monthly panel. She became belligerent and dismissive when I told her my mistakes had put me there. "Mistakes." I'm pretty sure she thought that was me shirking responsibility for my actions. An asinine conclusion to come to. One that would've ensured my inability to complete the terms of my probation and resulted in my incarceration. Interestingly enough, one of the first things the officer leading the panel said was, "You're all here because of mistakes you've made." That's what I had working against me. People that didn't care, and in fact seemed to want me to fail. Mr. Montrone found me answers when no one would give them to me on my own. He represented me confidently and looking the part, where other's council looked disheveled and confused. He presented a clear course of action that would appease the court and end the whole affair in a timely fashion. I brought the law into my life. Then it was made clear that rehabilitation or recompense were not their goals. They just wanted me. Probably make more money that way. But I had excellent help getting them out of it.

I'm grateful for the professional services Joe provided me. After our initial conversation he clearly laid out a few possible outcomes and his recommended course of action. Progress moved along at a very reasonable pace and Joe always kept me updated on any developments. There's little doubt my case would have been resolved as it was had I not hired Mr. Montrone.

I hired Joseph Montrone after doing my research on local defense lawyers, he did not disappoint. I was accused of poaching during a family hunt based on a technicality even though I had my permit and everything else I was supposed to have to hunt that management area.
