Biography
With a legal career spanning decades, John F. Sharpless is distinguished for his exclusive focus on workers’ compensation law. A graduate of Lehigh University (B.A., 1990) and the University of New Hampshire School of Law (J.D., 1996), John was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996. He is authorized to practice before all Florida state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. John’s career began with representation of Social Security claimants, followed by work in insurance defense for workers’ compensation and longshore claims. Since 1999, his dedication has been solely to advocating for the injured. He has served as a partner in leading Tampa law firms, focusing on Defense Base Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Florida State Workers’ Compensation, and Social Security Disability cases. John achieved Board Certification in workers’ compensation law in 2002 and has maintained this distinction through repeated recertification. His professional excellence was acknowledged with a “Super Lawyer” designation. Outside the office, John is dedicated to his family and enjoys music and the outdoors.
