I am here in US with an L1 visa but was only given 1 year. As we are about to reach 6 months I reached out to my previous lawyer who helped us with initial L1 but unfortunately she moved to another firm and no longer practice immigration. She is very passionate in helping us getting our L1 visa renewed. My case is quite complicated as it involves a lot of business technicality and it require thorough study and analysis. But with Karen, she always make it feel there is a solution to every situation. My worries was at ease every time I talk to her. You will not get the most personalised service in any firm. You probably just be dealing with secretaries or paralegals. But with Karen, she can always be there even on weekends. I hired Karen in 2016 to help me with a case. I paid her promptly and she even set up a payment arrangement with me as I was a broke single mom. However at mediation she told me if I didn’t settle she was dropping me. So I was forced to settle without getting all I would have liked because I didn’t h...ave someone in my corner fighting for me. After this she tried to take me to court for not paying her even though we had a payment arrangement set up. I proved to her that we had a set amount agreed upon and gave her all the money I could until she was paid. Fast forward to 2020 and I needed help with a relocation so I figured why not hire the one who knows the case. I gave her a retainer plus $100 for a filing expense. Not only did she file my petition wrong, when I asked her about it she knew nothing of the statue for it. I asked for weeks to get a copy of what was submitted plus detailed bills and I got nothing. Finally she called me and quit due to the fact that her and the opposing counsel (who she knew was taking on the case again as it was the same as before) have a personal hatred for one another. So I was stuck scrambling to hire another lawyer. Karen offered to refund my money so I asked for an itemized bill with the refund. So after she paid herself to do the job incorrectly I got what was left. A whopping $157! She itemized that she paid herself to review the statute which she still filed my petition incorrectly by said statue. Then she waits until 10 days before an answer is due to text me and tell me that I have 10 days to file my answer or what they submitted is deemed true. Karen Mentor is incompetent and does not know the laws. I would recommend that you never hire her for any situation!!
