Blessing!

This was a horrible situation, I found myself in a white collar crime situation and I have never had more than a speeding ticket! Matt was understanding, and his intrinsic knowledge of not just the situation but people on the prosecution side helped him to get me the best possible outcome. Clearly ...Matthew has not just great relationships with his clients, but the respect and relationships of the people he works with who are happy to work with him. My criminal case greatly benefitted from the professional Matt Shafran is. I hope to never need them again, but if I do, Matt is my first call.

Saved by Shafran

Gabriel- I am writing my review for Matt Shafran, who I must say did an exemplary job while handling my case. The past few years I have struggled with a ever increasing addiction to opiates, which in turn led to my life slowly, then rapidly spiraling out of control. Things became so dire that after a... particularly nasty bender, which resulted in my waking up in Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office's county jail, known more commonly as "Gun Club," I came to the conclusion that I needed serious help, and not just for my drug addiction, but for my ever increasing legal issues. According to the Sheriffs Office, I had become entangled in a series of burglaries, ranging from burglary of a conveyance; burglary of an unoccupied dwelling; and burglary of an occupied dwelling. All of which are felonies under Florida Law, yet to complicate matters even further, I had a series of misdemeanor offenses as well. Including an open-container charge; a paraphernalia charge; a possession of marijuana under 20 grams charge; and a petite-theft charge. Needless to say, things were looking bleak and I was beginning to feel as if my future was going to consist of my residing within the confines of a 6ftx10ft cell. After carefully considering my options, and doing some research into attorneys within the area, I had the serendipitous luck of choosing Meltzer & Bell, who directed me to Matthew Shafran. Once Matt took control of my case, things immediately began to take a positive turn. Following my release from jail on bond, I admitted myself into a 30-day drug and alcohol rehabilitation center to address my issues with my opiate dependency. After my release from rehab, I moved to Clearwater, Florida, where I took residency at a halfway house to continue my after care. Yet during this time, Matt was handling my case with the upmost proficiency. It was during this time that he informed me that due to the severity of my charges, I was facing a possible 36 months in prison, yet the state was willing to make a initial offer of 18 months. Yet Matt, with all of his legal wisdom, and realizing the state of mind I was under when I allegedly committed these crimes, not to mention how serving such a sentence could negatively impact of life, immediately got down to business. He craftily and intelligently maneuvered matters in such a way that the state was willing to come down off their initial offer of 18 months in prison, followed up with 3 years of probation, to 12 months on house-arrest, with no probation. After already serving a month in jail prior to my release on bond, this subsequently meant I would only have to serve 11 months. Needless to say, he worked nothing short of a miracle. Also, during this whole time, Matt was always just a phone call away to answer any and all questions regarding my case. In the offhand chance that he wasn't available due to his presence being requested in the court room, his alacrity in returning my call was of immense value and comfort. Knowing that someone truly cares about your case and how this impacts those dear to you is beyond value. So in conclusion, for anyone who has the offhand chance of finding themselves in the same or similar predicament which I unfortunately became entangled in, I highly recommend placing your legal future in the hands of Matthew Shafran. Matt is truly an attorney that can be relied on to handle your case with the upmost care and ethical professionalism as well as offering a personal touch which provides a sense of comfort during the stressful days and weeks leading up to your trial. Thanks again Matt, and my Dad and Jenna send their appreciation as well!

Client Review

Matt came to my rescue after a very unfortunate and ridiculous arrest. He showed up at the jail on a Sunday morning to help and reassure me. No charges were ever filed against me, and he is working to have my case expunged from the record. I was very happy and grateful for the services he provided... me. He additionally, was always available for conversation anytime I needed. I highly recommend Mathew Shafran as an attorney.

A responsive, knowledgeable and skilled attorney

We called after our son was arrested for a crime he committed nearly 9 months earlier. We received a return call in minutes and Matt was able to visit our son a few hours later after finishing representing other clients in court. Our son was distraught and frightened and Matt was very reassuring an...d supportive. Matt provided knowledgeable advice regarding bond arrangements suggesting he get back into his routine immediately since he had been doing so well. He was also very reassuring to us, the distressed parents, and always provided an almost immediate response to our questions and concerns. Our son had been in substance abuse treatment for almost 6 months living in a halfway house and working. Matt's past experience as a prosecutor was invaluable as he was able to work with the prosecutor on our son's case to arrange for a pre-trial intervention. This allowed our son to pay restitution and perform community service to avoid a felony charge on his record for life. He also could continue with his recovery and putting his life back together. This was a difficult case in that the prosecutor was extremely busy and not responsive to Matt's inquiries. Matt was very persistent in that he sent 17 emails and made numerous phone calls to the prosecutor in order to work out an agreement. We were extremely pleased with Matt's responsiveness, his knowledge of the law, his patience and especially his skill as an attorney. We are not sure our son would have had the same favorable outcome with another attorney. He now has a second chance in life! We would highly recommend Matt Shafran as an attorney. Thank you so much Matt.
