Successful Landlord Tenant Dispute!

Recently our landlord asked my husband and I to leave our apartment in a condo ASAP after we had already paid our month’s rent (we were renting without a lease). We left that apartment as soon as we could and afterward the owner did not return our deposit and last month’s rent along with the recent r...ent payment. We asked for the return our money and the owner ignored our request for reimbursement. During this time period he violated all the rules in Florida citing the return of security deposits and the like. We were disturbed and distracted by this assault and weren’t sure what to do. We went online to survey our rights under the circumstances and realized the landlord had dug a hole for himself by violating Florida law regarding the return of security or other outstanding payments. We came across an article through Google about landlord tenant disputes, which led us to a blog page devoted to this topic from a law firm called RTRLaw The article seemed to describe exactly what we were going through. The article also said there would be no fees upfront and that the cost of lawyer time and expenses would be paid by the landlord should the case go in our favor. We also read many Google reviews for RTRLaw, which were all positive. We didn’t look any further and decided to contact them. That started a interesting journey to a positive conclusion. Attorney, Erik Abrams was assigned to us along with Reneé Villa, his paralegal who collected all applicable data and required information from us for his review. We were encouraged by her thoughtfulness and kindness as well as her encouragement about the process. Erik listened to our story and detailed the steps that would be taken for success. The first thing Erik did was to confirm we were indeed in the right about our claim. The second thing that had to be done was to serve the landlord with a court order. What made this especially difficult was the fact that the landlord had relocated to California complicating the server process. It took a while through one ineffectual process server in the sate of California to another while Erik patiently and diligently pursued this evasive individual.
Along the way both Erik and Reneé kept us informed of the process through e-mails as well as phone conversations. They said it could take several months, but assured us of a good outcome. Erik’s honesty and desire to win this case for us eased our mind during this stressful situation. Finally there was success with a new process server. The landlord must have been in shock because it didn’t take long for him to call us leaving a message that he was willing to work with us to resolve the issue. Not needing to deal with him, we immediately contacted Erik about the call and he took it from there advising the landlord he was handling the case and that it was going through a legal process. Erik, through a brilliant strategy worked out the landlord’s payment to the law firm covering our money and RTR’s expenses, which he agreed to pay without much resistance. Though he evaded the consequences for months justice finally caught up to him! We are grateful to have had Erik handle our challenging case as he is a knowledgeable and committed attorney who pursued this matter to achieve a successful outcome. I think the statement above pretty much says it all. Money we thought we would never see was finally back in our hands where it rightfully belongs. Erik and Reneé were steadfast in their commitment to decency and a just outcome as they kept us informed throughout the ordeal. What more can we say about the just outcome to a blatant theft of our money? Only this. I would like others who have gone through this ordeal to have the same good fortune we had in making the right choice about representation in a similar matter.

the Best

Dedicated and Trustworthy Attorney Erik Abrams represented my husband and me on a personal matter. I found him to be very knowledgeable, compassionate and trustworthy. There was never a time that we called that he did not respond on a timely manner. He was dedicated to our needs and we felt very... comfortable having him to advocate for us.

Brilliant Attorney is one to Watch

Attorney Erik Abrams is an amazing attorney! He immediately and compassionately helped me resolve a distressing matter with a negligent homeowner’s association that mishandled their books. Mr. Abrams is a perfect example of why Super Lawyers ranked his law school as one of the top 20 law schools in... the country. Attorneys from his school graduate with so much legal knowledge—they certainly do “hit the ground running,” as Mr. Abrams so well epitomizes. This is why a “new” attorney can be a brilliant one, invaluable in resolving legal matters—and why I trust Mr. Erik Abrams with my legal matters. I look forward to working with him in the future, as an attorney, and as a real estate agent (having an attorney as your agent is quite invaluable). I recommend Attorney Erik Abrams with the highest enthusiasm!
