I am a former assistant state attorney and a former magistrate who has been practicing family law in Florida for over 18 years. I handle uncontested paternity/child support cases and uncontested divorce cases (also known as simple or friendly divorce cases) as well more complex contested divorce and family law cases.

Immigration 25%

My immigration practice focuses on the problems that immigrants and visa holders can encounter as a result of changes in their family circumstances, both here in the United States and in other nations. I also help immigrants understand how the decision to file for divorce might affect their green card or residence status, or how under certain circumstances their status might even be improved.

To prove negligence, our law firm would immediately gather evidence such as photographs and/or video recordings of your injury, obtain your medical records, obtain your accident report and interview witnesses about the incident. It is important to contact an attorney soon after a personal injury because time is of the essence.

Review of My Favorite Attorney

Peggy Cruz-Townsend was not at all what I expected when I hired her as my attorney. Peggy cares. She cared about the case and she cared about how I was doing. She made frequent telephone calls to check on how I was feeling about how this case was going, updating me all the way. I'm 73 years old a...nd therefore I have already forgotten the name of her assistant. She apparently knows what she is doing and was always willing to answer any questions I had, as was Peggy. I would recommend these two wonderful ladies to anyone needing legal advice. This was my first time ever needing representation and I would always have to give them five stars. They are two wonderful people.

Excellent professional, she cares for you and your money

After expending a lot of $ with another lawyer and almost a year of trying to get Divorce from a tricky Husband I Consulted Ms. Cruz-Townsend and Hire her right away. She acted fast and used all her law knowledge to corner my ex to do the right thing. Not only the outcome was fair and what I nee...d it but we ended this divorce in a reasonable short time . If you need a lawyer that is analytical, knowledgeable, finds solutions and is on top of your case she will be your choise. She is also 100 % fluent in English and Spanish which was a plus for me.

The personal & professional care is top level!

I first called Miss Cruz-Townsend over the phone very nervous and heartbroken over a pending divorce. Her listening skills and compassion lead to a meeting in her office in South Florida. I hired her then she guided me on the journey through divorce over many months. She advocated for me and guide...d me and there is no one I would trust more than Miss Cruz-Townsend to have in my corner. When the final judgment came, my only regret was that I wouldn't be seeing her anymore. Thank you Miss Cruz-Townsend for giving me my future.

Horrible Immigration lawyer

I wish there were negative rankings so I could have done justice to this review. I came to this country 3 years ago through a legitimate visa, and applied for my green card. I used the services of Ms.Townsend to help me with the process. (I fear paperwork and thought it might be a good idea to go thr...ough a lawyer, however I would recommend you do this process yourself instead of relying on leeches like Peggy. She was to do 4 things: Initial consultation - fill my application form - prep for mock interview and accompany us on our final interview. She gave us the initial consultation (this is where she takes your money). She didn't do a good job with filling the application and we had to go back and forth a few times. She did the mock interview over the telephone after having us come over to her office and she didn't turn up on the day of the actual interview. However, the most upsetting part of the entire experience was her unapologetic behavior after she clearly forgot to show up for the interview and we expressed our disappointment. She was extremely unprofessional, loud and obnoxious, accusing us of trying to get out of payment after the job was done (which it wasn't and we had already paid her the full amount). Dealing with her left a very bad taste and we shudder to think of how she treats immigrants who are more in dire need of lawyers than we were.

I remember this case clearly. My staff and I always strive for excellence in service. In this case, the client was treated professionally and courteously. This client hired me to assist him in obtaining a permanent residency card, and he obtained said card through the diligent efforts of my staff and I. All documents were properly prepared and submitted to the immigration department. On the day of this particular client’s scheduled interview with the immigration officer, the client arrived at the immigration office quite early and decided to take an earlier interview appointment than the appointment that had been originally scheduled for him. When I arrived on time at the originally-scheduled appointment time, I was informed by the immigration office that the client had arrived early and changed his interview to the earlier time. However, the client never informed my office that he had taken an earlier appointment. As such, I could not possibly be present at an appointment of which I had no knowledge. Nevertheless, the documents that my staff and I prepared were so detailed and well drafted, that the immigration officer that interviewed my client immediately approved his case at the interview. This client is now a permanent resident of this country due to the efforts of my staff and I. While we respect the client’s point of view, our memory of this incident differs greatly from that of the client. Our office will continue to strive to provide excellent service to all of our clients. As such, we encourage the client to contact our office should he wish to discuss the matter further.

Attorney Cruz-Townsend did a great job for me.

Ms. Cruz-Townsend got great results for me in my social security case. At our first meeting, she told me that, with my condition, I had a chance to get disability payments. The Attorney told me the steps that we would need to take for the application process. She was thorough when she prepared my ...documents. I am sure she prepared everything properly because very quickly I started to get my payments. Attorney Cruz-Townsend and her staff were very professional. I am very happy.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have known Peggy as a fellow attorney for approximately 16 years. Over the years I have been a mediator on cases she's handled and I have found Peggy to be professional, knowledgeable and very confident in her abilities. I have been so impressed with Peggy's abilities that I have confidently referred many cases to her that are outside the scope of cases my firm handles."
