I hired this attorney directly and paid her out of my own pocket to represent me personally in a property dispute. She was my attorney. I was her client. I retained her specifically to advocate on my behalf at every stage of the legal process. Before our scheduled legal proceeding, I personally prep...ared a detailed written summary of my case, including relevant case law and regulations supporting my position. I provided all of this to her directly. Despite this preparation, she made no contact with opposing counsel beforehand — a fact that was acknowledged by both sides when the session took place. At the proceeding, she told me not to speak and assured me she would lead. She did not. Opposing counsel directed arguments and accusations at me rather than at my attorney, and I ended up being the one responding. Statements were made about my property that I believed to be incorrect, and I observed no objection or clarification from my attorney at any point. Throughout the engagement, I experienced repeated communications covering the same ground and multiple calls asking questions I had already answered in writing. I paid a significant amount in legal fees and did not feel the work performed moved my case meaningfully forward. I understand legal outcomes are not guaranteed, and this review is not about the outcome. It is about the preparation, the communication, and the level of advocacy I experienced — which did not meet my expectations given the fees I paid.
