honest review

Christy represented me during my divorce and I have to say she is an absolutely brilliant lawyer and you will be very pleased with her representation. My issue with Christy is that after my divorce was over I owed her about $3,000. That might sound like a lot, but I had just finished paying her ne...arly $40,000 over the course of the previous year, so in comparison it was a small amount. I asked Christy if I could make payments and she got nasty and demanded the money immediately. There was no discussion or compromise...it was, "you owe me $3,000 and you will pay it now or face legal action" (or something to that effect). I do understand that you need to pay if you owe your attorney money, and I don't have an issue with that. My issue was with her refusal to discuss it with me or compromise in any way especially considering that I had just paid her so much money. She also charged around $40 per email, even though most of her replies were a single sentence that couldn't have taken more than 20 seconds to write. That being said, Christy is a great lawyer and will do a great job for you.

Money, Money, Money

I had an uncontested divorce and Christy ran up huge fees. She settled my case but it cost me a shocking amount of money.

We were retained to negotiate a settlement that the parties were unable to reach between themselves, and to finalize this divorce within a few weeks by the end of 2018 to accomplish a deadline set by this client. We immediately addressed the needs of this client and accomplished her goal in less than 3 weeks. We handled this matter expeditiously and as economically as possible and without litigation. I am saddened that we did not do so to the full satisfaction of this client. We strive to meet the goals of our clients in a quick and empathetic manner with fees and costs as low as possible within reason given each case. I am happy to discuss this concern further privately.

Money Money Money ! They put on a great show beware

I contacted Christy thru her ad on Avvo it read that she represents high conflict cases . With limited time to prepare for court . I retained her in a limited bases based on her getting a continuance first then prepare for mediation. 5k for limited representation 1 hour . She got the continuance and... I gave her 15000 more to go to mediation. Soon after I retained her Christy and Kate her partner left on vacation. Thru out her 10 day vacation the 15000 retainer was depleted and she asked me for another 15000 which was sent via Zelle .I started to loose confidence but what can I do ? I told her from the beginning I was borrowing money as this has been a 7 year divorce with only the house has equity . I told her before hand that I have been railroaded by numerous attorneys and judges as well as police officers. AND HAVE TO BORROW money from my grandfather. It was all brought to her attention well they went thru the second retainer in about a week . She requested another replenishment of 15000. When I questioned the additional 15000 she requested she filed for withdraw of the case immediately mediation was 2 weeks away and trial was only 2 months away . I was on the hook at this point sleepless nights concerned for there integrity and intentions! I was in desperate need of a solution so I gave her a additional 15000 and she withdrew her withdraw from the courts . I was told that I was covered up onto mediation and after that a 75000 dollar trial retainer would be needed. I was aware before hand about her fee and she suggested to mediate over going to trial well 2 days prior to mediation her partner Katie contacts me that my retainer was depleted again! My heart drop she needed 17000 dollars now which I did not have at that point because she over worked the retainer 2000 dollars more .. I was 50k to in debt… 17k more would put me at 67k for 2months of paper work and one motion that was revised from my previous counsel who was prepared for trial for over a year… She piggy backed on all the work my previous counsel did and stole my grandfather’s retirement money. Most recently I have new invoice for 5000 dollars pending and they put a lien on my case and are withholding all my files through the 7 years of discovery and testimonies . I will be contacting the Florida Bar and file a grievance against there firm . They where only interested on the next draw and after reviewing the timeline that I prepared I was just a stop gap client who was mislead and was misrepresented Shame on them ! They withdrew 2 days prior to mediation which they coordinate and it was a disaster!! There actions have been detrimental to my case and more so my Grandfather who spent 50 k to help me move forward with my life and was shamed damaged by this firms action .

This client retained us after six years since the commencement of his divorce case. By that time, the client was clearly angry and frustrated with a high conflict, overly prolonged case that still required so much work to be in a position for resolution either by trial or settlement. When we met with the client, this case was scheduled for a five-day trial three weeks later. Unfortunately, due to his previous lawyers, the case was nowhere near ready to be tried. We discussed with the client the work and costs that were needed to be ready for trial and encouraged a resolution outside of court to save money and to have control over his life. The client clearly understood the parameters of our representation before we agreed to take the case. Immediately, we sought a continuance of the impending trial, and even though the Judge had told the parties there were no further continuances, we were able to accomplish a four-month delay of the trial. We then hit the ground running to clean up this messy case. We maintained regular and open communication with the client on all aspects of his case, including outstanding discovery, mediation, strategy and costs. Despite our best efforts to achieve the client’s goals and our hard work with the forensic accountant to meet all of the demanding and outstanding discovery, the client impeded our forward progress. Ultimately, we felt that irreconcilable differences prevented us from continuing to represent this client, and we were required under The Florida Bar Rules to withdraw from this matter. This client’s frustration with the legal process is understandable. However, it is unfortunate that this client chose to handle his discrepancies with us through social media as opposed to communicating with us to resolve the fee dispute. We are open to continue this conversation offline to resolve this matter and to prevent this client from further disclosing attorney/client privileged communications from those in his review.

Poor Experience

Unfortunately, my experiences were very poor with Christy. She did not return many of my calls. I was not guided properly at all and I was billed very often by her office. It appeared she was more interested in billing me than assisting my case. Recently, I sent her a request two weeks ago and I am s...till waiting for a reply.
