My name is Patricia Elizee; I was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The political crisis in my homeland forced my family and me to flee the country when I was nine years old. We settled in South Florida. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication at the University of Miami. I later attended the University of Miami School of Law and the University of Washington School of Law and graduated with my Juris Doctorate and Master's in Law.
My legal career began with helping immigrant victims of domestic violence obtain immigration benefits as a Legal Corps Fellow at the Americans for Immigrants Justice, a local immigration non-profit. In 2012, I opened The Elizee Law Firm, a firm dedicated to helping immigrants navigate the U.S immigration system, and to representing families facing marital, child, or domestic violence cases in Florida.
On the immigration side, we represent clients in green card applications, deportation defense, work visas, investment visas, and more. On the family law side, we handle dissolution of marriage, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, child custody, child support, and domestic violence cases. These two practices are not separate to us, for many of our clients, they are deeply intertwined.
I know firsthand what it means to face uncertainty about where you belong and whether the law will protect you. That is the experience I bring to every case, and the commitment behind every client relationship at The Elizee Law Firm.
As Bill Owens once said, ‘‘Families are the tie that reminds us of yesterday, provide strength and support today, and give us hope for tomorrow.’’ Giving family units the peace of mind that they are protected during a very uncertain transition is priceless.
