Excellent, confident attorney who knows the Law

After going to three seperate attorneys for a consultation and being advised that they would not take my case (only my money), I checked Avvo to find an attorney who would be willing to take my case and see it all the way through. I had a somewhat complicated case due to my past history, and when ...I explained it to Freida, she was very optimistic and made me feel very hopeful. I then met with her husband Steven who was very professional, very confident, smart and knowledgeable. He gave me the confidence that I needed for my interview. The day of the Interview, he was on time and ready. But this man is a pro. I could tell that the Immigration officer was very impressed by the way he articulated my case. I feel that if Mr. Goldstein was not by my side, this may have been a drawn out process. But because he was there, I received my appointment for Naturalization not even a week after. I would recommend this attorney to anyone. You can read some of their reviews on the website. You will not regret it.

Worse experience -- do not recommend this attorney or law firm

I flew to Miami after booking an appointment with this attorney and alerting their office that I would have to be on a 3 hour flight to personally meet the attorney. I phoned to reconfirm and got on a flight to meet Steven A. Goldstein. On the day of the appointment, I received a call to change ...the time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. which caused me to change my flight, and pay a penalty, to meet the attorney. A couple of hours prior to arrival I received another call cancelling the appointment. I cannot emphasize enough the frustration that I experienced. I asked for any other attorney to meet with me since I was already in Miami but was told that noone was available. I have never experienced such a total disregard for potential client's time and expenses and, frankly, I have to wonder how my case would have been handled by someone who has such disregard for a potential client's time and confirmed appointments. Totally unprofessional and this is a law firm that I cannot recommend.

Our firm sincerely apologizes for your experience. At Pozo Goldstein, LLP, we strive to provide excellent customer service. In this case, the day's schedule did not pan out the way we planned which necessitated an adjustment to our appointments for the day. As you can see by our other reviews on AVVO, we consistently receive positive reviews for the work on behalf of our clients. That said, it does not alleviate your concerns. I am willing to personally speak with you by telephone and, if appropriate, schedule an appointment for you either in our Miami or New York office. You can reach me at [email protected].

Student Visa - Very Concerned

If you are looking for a top-tier, professional law firm - the best money can buy - Seven A. Goldstein and associates is not a good fit. My girlfriend is transferring schools and needs to re-apply for a Student Visa. She is from Venezuela and her residency has been approved. But, she needs to main...tain her legal status for another year while she waits for her permanent residency status to become official. Going back to Venezuela is not an option as they may not let her leave. I called and explained the situation clearly and outlined that things were time sensitive. I also mentioned that I wanted the best lawyer money could buy. Marian, the receptionist, scheduled an appointment for two weeks from the date of my call. My girlfriend took the day off work. I took the morning off to Skype in from Silicon Valley. Ada Pozo was 25 minutes late. She walked into the conference room for 45 seconds, told me and my girlfriend that there was a mix-up. Wires were crossed and their end and they had scheduled an appointment for a marriage consultation. Before either of us could get a word in, she walked out. Marian informed us that their Attorney that handles Student Visa cases was out of town and wouldn't be available for 3 weeks. There wasn't even a hint of an apologetic tone, let alone an apology. When I reminded her of our situation, she was rude and dismissive. I could care less about bedside manner. I just want a law-firm that can keep my girlfriend in the county until her residency becomes official.

DEVON - I AM SORRY THAT YOU HAD THIS TYPE OF EXPERIENCE AT OUR LAW FIRM DURING YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION. OUR IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND AND OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS TO CONNECT POTENTIAL CLIENTS WITH THE BEST ATTORNEY WHO IS ABLE TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE CONSULTATION. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE AVVO REVIEWS, OUR CLIENTS ARE VERY HAPPY. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND.

I'm sure they are other knowledgeable attorneys that would be willing to help

First and foremost, I do not work for any attorney or para-legal. Just like you I was looking for attorney than can help with my case. Well, it never got that far. The biggest problem with Mr. Goldstein is his office staff. Apparently they are continuously overbooked as my appointment was reschedu...le three times (!), one time because there was religious holiday (I'm fine with that but why his office would be scheduling appointment week in advance without knowing the attorney will not be present?). On the final third appointment date they never called and 2 hours later I did call myself. After 10 minutes waiting on the line the attorney took the phone. He was unfamiliar with my case, did not know who I am or wasn't aware of any documents I have sent him over 2 weeks earlier, despite the fact I did have numerous correspondence with his over the e-mail. Nothing. Finally, it turns out that there was some animosity between him and the other attorney that got involved in our case and for that reason mr. Goldstein told me "I'm sure they are other knowledgeable attorneys that would be willing to help". Totally unprofessional, not to say childish, in my opinion. When looking for reliable, fast, mature and knowledgeable attorney, I would not recommend Mr. Goldstein, because it was simple a waste of three-weeks of time. I cannot say much to his knowledge, but what's the use of your superior immigration-law experience if you do not know how to handle and work with your clients? Oh, by the way; he said multiple times he will refund my consultation fee, then he said he already did refund it. Up to this day, I have not seen any refund coming, and I will have to go through the bank to get it resolved. I am sure Mr. Goldstein is not in a business of taking someone's $ without rendering a service, but again it just shows how he and his staff are disconnected from maintaining fair relationship with customers (God only knows how he would handle my payment if the fee would go into thousands of dollars). You have been warned and do yourself a favor and comply with what Mr. Goldstein told me: "I'm sure they are _other_ knowledgeable attorneys that would be willing to help".

Note to the Reader: The person submitting this review called our office while he was already represented by another immigration attorney for an opinion as to whether the attorney was doing the right thing in his case. When I was told that his attorney was a former law partner of mine, I respectfully declined to offer my services as I felt doing so would be a conflict for various reasons that I will not cover here. I offered to refer this person to another competent attorney in the area so he could seek his second opinion and I refunded his consultation fee. I can understand, to some degree, his frustration because he researched and felt our firm was his best choice, but rating our firm "poor" in this situation is misplaced.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
