If you want a lawyer that will tell you what needs to be told and not just what you want to hear, Alan is your man. Excellent communication by him and his staff. I was always kept in the loop. Alan handled my messy divorce case. I previously had two other lawyers who were lazy. They never communicated with me or copied me with paperwork. Problem #1 Refused to meet with me prior to the day of our mediation. Failed to bring up important issues during the mediation Problem #2 Double billed me. Rudely spoke on his cell phone for extended periods of time and conducted other business while I was paying him, a dishonest practice. Proble...m #3 Refused to represent me at my hearing even after being informed that it would cause monetary harm to me not to attend the hearing. (he doesn't believe in "piece meal litigation)." Problem #4 Attempted to pad his bill by billing for extra hours that he wasn't performing work for me. When having to explain his actions to the Florida Bar he claimed the extra $400 was for his personal travel time in the same town but submitted no receipts. Problem #5 Overbilled for office work. Charged $300 an hour for typing of document @ approximately 17 words a minute. Even the slowest of typists could type faster than that! Problem #6 Transferred money from an escrow account in my name to his own attorney fund without my express permission. Problem #7 Was uncooperative in turning over materials after I fired him. My experience was that he pretended to be a tough guy but couldn't deliver, a panfish instead of a shark, I found him to be lacking in ethical and honest behavior and self centered to the point of causing monetary harm to his own client by his actions.
