About Karen
Biography
Karen Middlekauff has dedicated her law practice to family law. She prides herself on being responsive, cost-effective, diligent, and determined for every client. Karen has extensive experience with dissolution of marriage, alimony, asset and liability distribution, attorneys' fees actions, establishment of paternity, child support, child custody, visitation, and timesharing arrangements. Karen additionally handles prenuptial agreements and domestic violence injunctions.
Karen handles family law cases in a wide variety of manners, including mediation, informal settlement negotiation, and at trial. In addition to litigation proceedings, Karen also practices collaborative family law. In the collaborative process, each party has his or her own attorney, along with a neutral financial professional and counselor. The participants follow a protocol to develop resolution options to work collaboratively towards the dissolution of marriage, as oppose to the traditional adversarial process.
Karen graduated cum laude from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, and received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Delaware, graduating cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
Karen is a proud member of the board of directors for the Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center of Florida. Karen also is a member of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida, serving on its membership committee. Karen is actively involved with the Orange County Bar Association and is an editor of its academic publication, The Briefs. She is also a graduate of the Athena NextGen Women's Leadership Institute, and currently serves on its recruitment committee.
Karen is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
