Sherri DeWitt and Andrew Windle handled my child custody dispute and both did a superb job. Althought it was a tough and long dispute, they both supported me throughout the process and did a superb job as far as the legal work goes. Dewitt Law Firm Orlando

I feel like Sherri Dewitt and everyone at her firm are members of my family. They represented me in a very bitter and contentious custody dispute. My case went on and off for over 7 years and the Dewitt Law firm stood by me every step of the way and made sure as a father- I was granted the custody ...I am rightfully and legally due. Now- that I have custody of my daughter- Ms. Dewitt still calls to see how my family is doing. If not for the work she and Andrew Windle did- I would still be struggling to see my children. I cannot express in words the amount of emotional and financial pain one goes through in a case like mine. Sherri Dewitt was thoughtful, courteous, and professional. She and Andrew listened to my contstant issues and advised me appropriately. I appreciated her honesty in regards to the law and what I could resonably expect. She is a very straightforward person and will always be grateful to her firm.

Dissolution of Marriage

I hired Sherri to represent me in a dissolution of marriage. I have 2 young children, and have not worked since they were born. Sherri was able to get me a custody agreement I was happy with, along with the child support I required. Positives: Aggresive litigation, got me what I wanted, caring an...d knowledgeable Negatives: More than I would have liked to pay, slow with email

"I endorse this lawyer. Sherri is one of the few attorneys who is using legitimate legal defenses to help people facing foreclosure rather than mere delay tactics. She has a brilliant legal mind and uses it to her clients' advantage. Recently she was able to stop a foreclosure sale for one of my clients facing bankruptcy."

Public Reprimand - with Conditions issued in FL, 2007

updated on 06/26/2012

Public reprimand means the attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Bar warns the lawyer in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior and places conditions on the lawyer's license.

Sherri’s comment:

“The proceeding recognized that there was no ill intent on the part of Sherri DeWitt and was in part based on the problems created by accepting credit card payments. These problems have been corrected and are no longer an issue.”

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline
This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2007
Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
