Green Card through NIW

Went very smoothly. Very fast responses to my inquiries. Always sent me an email when a status would change. Peter sent me a list of items that I needed to submit to him, and after that he took over and managed everything in a timely manner. I never needed a lawyer before, and this was a very easy fi...rst experience.

Worth my penny

I consulted Mr. Peter Messersmith and hired him as my immigration attorney to file my GC application through both EB1A and Eb1b categories. As a young researcher, I was skeptical with the available documents and credits that I had accumulated. Peter instilled confidence both through mails and his tra...ck record. Though it was not cheap for me (with a non-tenure researcher’s salary) to hire him as my attorney, he was worth every penny as my applications got approved within a short span of time. One point to note- he seems busy, so may answer only to your most important questions in a line a two. Contact his paralegal (Jen) for more information as she is good in answering your queries. I definitely would recommend him as an excellent immigration attorney who would get the job done. His success rate itself speaks for him.

Satisfied client

Peter Messersmith handled my NIW-based permanent resident application competently. Everything played out as he predicted and I received my Green Card within three month of filing my application. Peter responded quickly to my questions and forwarded me all correspondence from Immigration in a timely f...ashion. In addition to good service, the Messersmith Law firm charged significantly less than other law firms I approached to handle my case. I have recommended Peter to my friends seeking permanent residence.

EB2 - NIW

We hired P. Messersmith law firm to file GC application under the NIW category. The service we received was performed at a very high professional level. Peter and his associate always answered our questions within reasonable time and guided us through the process very closely. Fast approval of our pe...tition proves that this lawyer is knowledgeable and experienced.

Lack of Knowledge and Transparency - A Costly and Unsuccessful Experience

I consulted Peter Messersmith regarding my deportation case from the U.S. due to an OPT-related issue. Initially, he charged me $15,000 to appeal the decision. However, throughout the process, I found myself having to constantly follow up and provide suggestions as he appeared to lack experience with... cases like mine. Despite multiple attempts, the CBP refused to reopen my case, and we were forced to submit a TRIP request. When we received the TRIP response, Mr. Messersmith misinterpreted it, claiming that a key provision (212(a)(6)(C)(i)) had been removed from my case. For clarification, I submitted another TRIP request and received a response that showed nothing had changed. When I shared this information with Mr. Messersmith, instead of addressing the mistake, he blamed me for seeking clarification. Additionally, I was preparing to apply for an H4 visa, and Mr. Messersmith's office charged me $10,000 for a waiver. While filling out the DS-160 form, I had questions regarding deportation-related queries and was asked to pay $5,000 just for advice on completing the form. I ended up completing the form myself. When I went to the U.S. consulate, the officers informed me that the waiver should have been filed with USCIS, not through them. They also handled the waiver themselves during the visa interview. It was a frustrating revelation, as I had already paid a significant amount to Mr. Messersmith for this process. In the end, after spending over $30,000 and three years, my case was not successfully resolved. I was particularly disappointed with the lack of transparency, the re-use of old paperwork, and the fact that I was charged additional fees for every minor task or clarification. I would not recommend Mr. Messersmith if you are looking for effective and informed legal representation in immigration matters.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
