Great, reliable, knowledgeable lawyer. Excellent experience.

Hired Peter for our green cards case in NIW category. Overall it took 5 months from the date of filing the package to actually receive the green cards in our mailbox. It took other 2 months before filing the package to collect all documents and compose all letters. We are greatly satisfied with his h...elp and proficiency. Were very pleased with the offered multiple installments payment plan. Modest legal fees is another great plus - other several lawyers we contacted elsewhere had higher fees. Peter was very quick in responses (usually within the same or next business day by email) and reachable by phone - the latter we consider quite important since we had a chance to talk to our lawyer rather than a secretary. Overall, very positive experience with Peter -- we would highly recommend him to anyone.

An immigration Laywer I will recommend

I applied for the EB2 with another attorney. My case was approved. When my employer (an university) came to know that my EB2 was approved, the officials in charge of immigration issues in my University were mad and used their contacts at USCIS Chicago to freeze the process. Suddenly my case became a ...nightmare. Peter was so knowledgeable that he always found a way to legally. overcome the obstacles that were artificially built by my delicate employer with the complicity of some USCIS agents in Chicago (the university uses all means to delay the green card procedure for new faculty, as a way to prevent excellent professors leaving). Without him, we would have been at the mercy of an unscrupulous university, without a status. Finally, all my family became permanent resident thanks to the professionalism of Peter. I am grateful for his help. He is an immigration attorney that can deliver.

Worth my penny

I consulted Mr. Peter Messersmith and hired him as my immigration attorney to file my GC application through both EB1A and Eb1b categories. As a young researcher, I was skeptical with the available documents and credits that I had accumulated. Peter instilled confidence both through mails and his tra...ck record. Though it was not cheap for me (with a non-tenure researcher’s salary) to hire him as my attorney, he was worth every penny as my applications got approved within a short span of time. One point to note- he seems busy, so may answer only to your most important questions in a line a two. Contact his paralegal (Jen) for more information as she is good in answering your queries. I definitely would recommend him as an excellent immigration attorney who would get the job done. His success rate itself speaks for him.

Satisfied client

Peter Messersmith handled my NIW-based permanent resident application competently. Everything played out as he predicted and I received my Green Card within three month of filing my application. Peter responded quickly to my questions and forwarded me all correspondence from Immigration in a timely f...ashion. In addition to good service, the Messersmith Law firm charged significantly less than other law firms I approached to handle my case. I have recommended Peter to my friends seeking permanent residence.

Great Immigration Lawyer

My wife and I were both on F1 status but since her OPT was coming to an end and since she wanted to keep working, we had decided to start looking for an immigration attorney to apply for the NIW EB2 green card. After reading as much reviews as we could, we had realized that Peter seemed to be the sui...table attorney for us mostly based on his high ranking and success rate. We contacted him and scheduled an appointment to have a face-to-face conversation. Our first impression after the 90 minutes appointment was very positive. He was very patient and knowledgeable and we hired him the day after the appointment. His attorney fee was not the lowest, but he was the only one processing all our documents before submission and, as other reviewers already mentioned, there are no additional fees to be charged besides the one mentioned in the contract. Despite the fact that I was still in the last months of my PhD and I had only 5 publications at that time, Peter was very confident that I had a very strong case and he was absolutely right. The I140 was approved in about 9 months after submission and we received our green cards 3 months later. This process went extremely smooth and painless for us and we are really grateful. The only downside in our experience was the total price which was high. Since we wanted to keep working, we both had to apply for the EAD card, which require signing a separate contract with its own fees. People should keep in mind that those prices do add up and it can make a significant difference if you don’t budget for it in advance. Besides that, we had a great experience with this law firm. We strongly recommend the Messersmith Law firm for anyone who is a looking for a great immigration attorney.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
