Lack of Communication from David M. Carrera

My review for David M. Carrera is from my personal experience. I contacted David Carrera in early August and spoke to him as I was searching for an attorney to represent a friend of mine who was seeking legal counsel and representation to have someone evicted from her home. Since she was going th...rough hardships and a health scare, my husband and I stepped in to try to help her and hire a lawyer for her. Since we lived-on the west coast and she lived in Florida, she had a few questions/concerns about how it would work if we hired/paid for her lawyer. After initially, calling Mr. Carrera a couple of times and asking questions about the whole process of an eviction, he sent an Unlawful Detainer Agreement which included a payment for his service. Again, since we were waiting for her test results to come back, we did not fill out the retainer right away as she was waiting to see what decisions she would have to make if the test results were not in her favor. Thankfully, her results came back in her favor. We were very relieved. That was most important. We could then focus on moving on with the Unlawful Detainer process. I called Mr. Carrera back and left a voice message with 2 questions. No response from Mr. Carrera. I waited a few days and then called again and left another message. Again, no response from Mr. Carrera. Before, when I called, he had readily picked up the phone. Now, the phone just rang and went to voice mail. I called my friend in Florida about a week later. She told me that she also left a message for Mr. Carrera and was waiting for his return phone call. After my friend told me this, I sat down with my husband and told him that I don’t think Mr. Carrera was going to call back because he is not returning our phone calls. Just in case, we had found another attorney for the Unlawful Detainer. However, I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t just being too hasty. So, I went to the website where I initially contacted Mr. Carrera, and sent him an e-mail. I stated that we had 2 questions and reminded him that we still had the Unlawful Detainer Agreement that he had emailed to us. I let him know that we were ready to move forward with his services and ready to sign the agreement and send in the payment through the email that he had previously sent to me. That e-mail was sent to him on Friday. The next day, Saturday morning, he responded to my e-mail. He stated that that he was withdrawing his offer of representation for my friend in Florida. Whatever Mr. Carrera’s reasons are for not representing my friend are his reasons and I respect his decision. I definitely want someone that wants to represent her in this case. What I don’t respect is Mr. Carrera not returning and also ignoring our phone calls. This went on for over 2 weeks. As soon as Mr. Carrera knew that he did not want to represent her, he should have gotten in touch with us and let us know instead of wasting our time calling someone who obviously had no interest in this case or representing my friend. This review is not about a lawyer that has decided to not take a case. For the people that Mr. Carrera has/and will represent, I am sure that he has done and will do an outstanding job representing his clients. For me, I cannot respect someone that chooses to obviously ignore my phone calls in hopes that I will just go away. I cannot respect someone that is not being upfront, wasting my time, and not letting us know that he is not interested in taking the case. A true professional will communicate. In my case, there was a lack of communication from Mr. Carrera.

Bankruptcy Chapter 7

David Carrera represented me on my Chapter 7. I was very confused about making this decision. I went to discuss, and get a consultation. He explained all options and advised which one was best for my situation. Mr. Carrera was very professional. very easy to understand. The process was easy and quick..., and even after the process Mr. Carrera was helpful and answer all the questions I had even after the case was close. I have referred Mr. Carrera to other clients and I will keep referring him to anyone. I trust him and if I had another legal matter I will come back to him.
