Karen Starr Yochim

I hired Ms. Yochim to represent me in my divorce. Most of the issues in my settlement had already been worked out with my ex, but I didn't want to file without help. Ms. Yochim thought of many details that we had not considered. Her estimate for total cost was pretty spot on and very competitive. Oth...er lawyers I talked to were all about 'winning' something in the divorce. It was a relief to find someone that actually listened and seemed to be concerned about the outcome for my children. That said, if my situation was different I am sure she would have scrapped as hard as I needed her to. If I have another family law issue to deal with I will reach out to her again.

I was very displeased with Karen. She was not prepared for trial. She waited to talk to witnesses till the night before trial at 10pm. Which showed she was not ready at all. She misrepresented herself. She said one thing and did another. She did not listen to me nor to my family. She acted like she d...id not care about myself or my daughter. Never got an answer to over half my questions. She could not draft motions, or final judments. My judgement came out in correct, and she had to be told time and time again to fix the judgement and still wanted to charge me for her errors in my case. She was never on time and even spoke negative to the other sides attorney about me. When yet, she was not listening and not helping at all. I could have gone in to trial and did it myself. She did not spend the time on my case to get the results that weye needed. She sent me to a person to help get a parenting plan) and I was told I (the mother) had no choice but to give up everything and insult me. When yet I was the one that took care of my daughter from day one. She did not explain my rights as a mother, in fact I had to go through the A-t ( best interest for the child) to show her where things fit in. This was the worst choice for an attorney.

Karen has been amazing at helping me navigate a VERY messy divorce. She has always been solution minded and helped me to keep my daughter and her interest paramount even in the toughest of times. Karen has worked diligently and efficiently to try to ensure her bill is manageable. We have had a num...ber of conversations assessing the long term benefit of the approach to my case to ensure I am not making emotional decisions that will not benefit me long term. I have appreciated her pragmatism a every turn. Her approach has consistently been one to help me rebuild my life as quickly as possible leaving the least collateral damage. I will continue to recommend her highly to anyone who asks.
