I didn't know that I was being sued. The only way that I knew was when I went to collect my mail from the post office, which I don't check that often. Like once a month. I had about 15 solicitations from attorneys. I mean the were really fancy looking too. Except for one particular envelope. It was M...r. Hamlin's. I opened it and read it. I immediately thought to myself, " Oh yeah, this is a scam. " It said Guaranteed to win. So off to the shred pile it went, along with the other "junk mail." Upon further investigation of the matter, I discovered that I was being sued for more than 4k in small claims court. I immediately retrieved all of the supposed "junk mail" and I started to read them. They were 13 of them, all from different attorneys and it was wild man. Prices ranged from 8k to 2k. So I went back to the very first letter that I had read. It said $500 Guaranteed. Bryan J. Hamlin. I did my due diligence and I was blown away! This guy was the Superman of attorneys! No exaggeration! I called and left a detailed message on a Friday evening. I forgot to mention that this happened at Thanksgiving. They promptly returned my call on Monday and the women said that they needed to be contacted two weeks before the court date to take the case. My hearing was one week away. I explained that I just found out about the lawsuit a few days prior and that I hadn't been served a subpoena. She told me to hold on so she could make Mr. Hamlin aware of the situation and he agreed to take my case on short notice. I paid him $500 on Thanksgiving morning and he immediately filed a notice of appearance that same morning! I'm like, " wow, who does that?" File paperwork on Thanksgiving!
