Tom Asbury practices in the areas of business/corporate law, administrative law, and estate planning. Mr. Asbury is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (BSE) and the Florida Coastal Law School (JD). He is the author of a law review publication entitled Spiritual Outputs Approach to Rehabilitation: Alternative Sentencing Theory, 3 Fla. Coastal L. J. 41 (2001). While in law school, he published a law review article, participated in Moot Court, served on the Moot Court Board, and was appointed Honor Court Clerk for two consecutive years.
Tom Asbury was born in West Point New York but grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Wharton, Mr. Asbury worked in the Internet sector as a Webmaster for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. His professional legal experience includes compliance law, business law, general civil litigation, administrative law, appellate services and oral arguments before the District Court of Appeal, and consulting for business entities. Mr. Asbury has also lectured for NBI Seminars in continuing legal education programs.
Prior to forming Asbury Law, Mr. Asbury was the regulatory compliance counsel for WellCare Health Plans, a Fortune 500 company (NYSE: WCG). He provided in-house legal advice and analysis on various regulatory and compliance matters relating to federal and state healthcare laws, OIG requirements, WellCare’s Corporate Integrity Agreement, FWA, internal investigations, HIPAA, and was a member of the Global Policy & Procedures Committee. Mr. Asbury has also served as senior lead prosecutor for the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), providing full legal representation on administrative law and regulatory matters for all healthcare facilities state-wide.
Mr. Asbury is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
