Practice areas
  1. Estate planning
    50%
Estate planning assures that your wishes will be carried out during your lifetime and at end of life. A well thought out plan can eliminate future uncertainties, maximize the value of your estate and avoid the cost of probate. In short, estate planning provides peace of mind for you and your family. We consider all of your needs and desires to determine which legal documents you need, providing a plan that is unique to you. One size does NOT fit all.

  2. Probate
    40%
Events following the death of a family member are not always easy or simple. Among the many activities that must occur is the distribution of the decedent’s assets. Probate is the legal process in which the assets of a decedent are administered. Probate administration varies depending on the availability or absence of a Will.

  3. Guardianship
    5%
A guardianship is a way to protect the most vulnerable members of a family: an incapacitated adult or minor child. In simple terms, a guardianship is a legal relationship that is created by the courts to protect a vulnerable person, known as the ward, or that person’s property. The named guardian has specified duties and responsibilities designed to meet the needs of the ward.

  4. Trusts
    5%
Whether you have a vast estate or something more modest, the ability to avoid probate and insure your wishes are followed at end-of-life, are two very good reasons to set up a trust. There are multiple types of trusts that can be set up depending on individual needs (including living or revocable trust as well as testamentary). No matter how complex or basic, the trust document requires careful thought and planning with the assistance of an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer.

I am principal of the Law Offices of JoAnn Leigh Gramm, P.A.. I began my preparation for becoming a lawyer at the City University of New York, earning a B.A. in History, Magna Cum Laude. I followed with a Juris Doctorate in Law from Rutgers University School of Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from Temple University.

I put these credentials to work serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Superior court of New Jersey. The following six years I spent practicing law with a New Jersey firm while also teaching Business Law at Stockton State College (Galloway, NJ).

Branching out on my own, I established a private practice in New Jersey limited to Estate Planning, Probate, Guardianship, Elder Law and Medicaid Planning.

In time, I was drawn to the warm Florida climate where in January 2005, I set up a practice in Jacksonville to continue my focus on Estate Planning, Probate Administration, Guardianships, Wills, and Trusts.

I am a member of the St. Johns Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Bar Real Property and Probate Division, and Uptown Civitan Jacksonville.

I am also a former officer of Project Care, a non-profit organization assisting the elderly in the community. I have organized fund raising activities and coordinated with other non-profits to provide seminars on issues of importance to the elderly. I have also offered seminars on the role of attorneys, non-profits and the community in assisting this segment of the population.
